Here at Hebrews 3:8 and 15, the apostle Paul is exhorting the Hebrews not to show the same lack of appreciation as was shown by the Israelites in the wilderness. They always made a test of God and went astray in their hearts. No matter what God did, they were unappreciative. Verse 17 says God became disgusted with them in the wilderness, swearing that they would not enter into God's rest. Verse 19 says it was because they lacked faith. Backing up a bit to Hebrews 2:2, Paul says if the word spoken through an angel proved to be firm and disobedience received retribution, how much more so will that be the case for those who neglect a salvation of such greatness that it was spoken to us – not by means of angels – but by means of our Lord – Jesus Christ.
In other words, Paul is saying don't make the same mistake as your forefathers.

No one knows if they have tomorrow. Salvation is offered today; don't turn down the offer.
