I had heard before that all the animals get thrown together.
The vet said that this place was reputable.
Does anyone know for sure???

If the place is a reputable crematorium, you should have nothing to worry about. Your vets referral should put you at ease. Having had two pets cremated to date, I have complete faith in the creamatorium I use, so no worries, you should not have any issues with it. Good luck!

I don't know the crematorium in question of course, but if it's as good as the one we use, you've nothing to worry about.

One of our nurses happened to be in Cambridge, where our crematorium is, and decided to pay them a visit. She turned up unannounced, and they were happy to show her around, including the whole of the cremation process. She saw that each animal's body did indeed enter the furnace by itself, in it's bag, on a conveyer belt. There was a video screen that allowed viewing of the interior of the furnace during the cremation - all that could be seen was pretty much a big flash, and that was it. Then someone was waiting at the other end of the conveyor belt to scoop the ashes into the container the owner had chosen. So you see, it was all conducted completely appropriately!

It's not in a crematorium's interest to deceive their clients by giving them any old ashes. They'd be found out in a second and go out of business. Also I think you'll find the majority of people in this kind of job do actually care about and have respect for the animal-owner relationship.

Ask the vet if anybody there has been to visit this particular crematorium - or ring the crematorium yourself and visit if it's nearby, this should allay all your concerns!

Typically there are two types of cremation to choose from, one is a general or group cremation, where several animals are cremated and you do NOT receive the ashes back (cheaper) or a private cremation, where the pet is cremated by itself, and you get the ashes back. Most places are very reputable and well run, but if your concerned call them up and ask to take a tour of their facilities. I did that so I would be able to honestly tell my clients what the procedure was like and how everything was handled.

Well you get other stuff as well, like the ashes of the container it was in.....but the majority of the ashes , will be the ashes.....of your pet.

A reputable firm , will clean out the burner plate.....before your pet goes in !
