If massacres like VATECH don't at least create some doubt in your religious beliefs, your braindead.

Its one thing to pray for a living person with a disease, it does no good of course, but people feel like they can do no harm with it. However, prayers after massacres like this amount to sheer babble or even insult.

What are you praying for...THEY ARE DEAD! Even if God did exist, do you think he ever says "wait...I just let the devil have this one but Joe, Billy, and Jackie collectively prayed that I should admitt the poor shooting victim into heaven so, ok."

It should be illegal to publically utter religious rationalizations after senseless horrors...maybe a mandatory "shut your religious babble" period of mourning.

Illegal? Definitely not. Love of liberty should trump distaste for another's actions.

Having said that, unless you're a Mormon, or a member of another group that believes that the living's prayers can affect the dead, well, it does seem a bit illogical to this admittedly outside observer.

1.) Prayer is for the FAMILIES and for those left having to cope in the wake.

2.) Freedom of speech and beliefs are not illegal. If they were, you would not be allowed to post this question on Yahoo Answers.

3.) If you are allowed freedom to say what you please, why can't others do the same as well.

4.) No matter what you believe, have some respect for the people (probably your age) that died, and their families.

5.) If prayer is useless because "they are dead", then how can you say that prayer is offensive and an "insult" to them if they are dead? Insult to who? The families who are left in shock and trying to cope?

P.S. Whatever your belief is, it's missing compassion.

probibly this is a second account, but do you realise on this account you've only ever attacked religion by exploiting the 30 some-dead-and-barely-cold?
Give it a rest.
You're just as bad as the people how try to force their religion on others.
Fine you say their is no for of any god, good. You're content where you are, I'm content where I am. Let it go.
Tell you what, after we die if (heavy on the if eh.) we meet i'll never say I told you so. But if you're right I'll take 10% of the worms from your face so you can be smug a little longer. LOL How about that?

No it should not be illegal. For people to pray that God comforts the family and friends of those who are grieving and to comfort the family of the muderer is not wrong..it shows people care..and God answers prayer. I just think you are a hater who wants to start fights during this terrible time. Sit down!!

Just stop that right now. Everyone has a right to do what they want when they are grieving. If they find relief through prayer, then let them do that. They aren't forcing you to pray with them, so leave them alone. I'm an atheist and I find your question appalling.

life can b very s h i t on this earth, so there must b a god in heaven waiting for us, we just have to have faith, if youve ever been to a funeral the preist explains a few things and helps you feel comforted, its pretty much the only thing that helps people cope with the death of a loved one, dont b too against the prayer, it does help the majority of people

Yes, let's illegalize thinking happy thoughts to any being we deem imaginary... That'll fix things! (Through the jobs it provides in building and staffing the juvenile detention centers)

If you don't think God exists, what harm can prayer do?
If you thing God exists, what harm can prayer do?

Cheers :-)

Illegal seems a bit harsh.
You cannot outlaw bad taste, just regret it.
