I think what you're referring to is the "sleep diet" honey is included before bed as it has been known to help people get to sleep.

The basic idea behind the sleep diet is to get more sleep...

Normally, one would say that this theory is not logical as, while asleep, you burn fewer calories. But what determines good effects of sleep on the body weight is the regulation of bodily chemicals during sleep. Scientists have discovered that sleep deprivation lowers the leptin level and raises the grehlin one. Leptin is a blood protein that suppresses appetite operating in the brain and affecting the way the brain perceives the satiety feeling. Grehlin is a substance that makes people want to eat and it rises when the body is deprived of sleep.

Also it is believed that the body is more effecient at burning body fat while asleep.

Also if you are well rested you can workout harder thus burn more calories so take your teaspoon of honey and try it out, at the end of the day honey is natural knock yourself out, it's better than lollies and is great to help get over sugar cravings in a more healthy way.

I usually have a warm milk with honey and cinamon before bed...

Oh and PS I have a body fat percentage of 9.8% so no it won't make you fat as long as you include it in your daily calorie allowance :-) It's not what you eat over a period of time that makes the real difference.
