I would consider taking the dog to the vet. Alot of German shephards have health problems that cause the thinness. But also, How many times a day you feeding your dog? Feeding the dog 2-3 times per day would be best. Mixing people food is really not the best thing to do especially butter and cheese.
If you want to make a gravy and put in the food that would be fine and also you can cook up some brown rice and mix into the food, but stay away from butter and cheese. You are going to cause digestive issues if you keep feeding the dog that stuff.
The dog may need wormed. But if the dog had tapeworms more than likely you would see rice looking stuff in its feces. I would go to the vet for a checkup, it wouldn't hurt.

If you are truly worried about it, you should take her to the vet so they can check her out and make sure everything is okay.
You should not, however, be feeding her "people food" like butter and cheese. It is so not good for her.
Also, you might look into whether she has worms or something. This often makes animals that seem otherwise healthy stay to skinny.
Also, if you notice that she is eating everything you give her, you may want to try giving her a bit more dog food, because maybe she is burning it all up and really isn't getting enough to eat. Just don't try to fatten her up on the things that make people fat, as it will more likely do more harm than good.
Best bet, take her in for a check up and ask lots of questions.

Sounds like you are feeding relativly good food but please stop giving the butter and cheese so much to make her fat.
She may need more food if she is so active that she is burning up all the calories she is eating. Try giving more of her regular food beyond the amount the bag says. Dogs that are more active may need more of the base nutrition.
What does your vet say?
Also go to this site and learn about what should be in a dogs food.

Hopefully the brand you are feeding is nutritionally sound.

How thin is she? There is a national problem with obesity in dogs as well has humans and its just as unhealthily in dogs. If you are used to seeing your neighbors morbidly obese dogs a normal weight dog may appear thin and Ger. shep. are normally rather slabsided looking (they SHOULD NOT have a lotta width looking for the top. You should not be able to easily see ribs (faint outline acceptable) but you SHOULD be able to feel ribs easily. The dogs outline from the side should show a waist (tuck -up) behind the ribs.
A childhood neighbor literally fed several dogs to death in the unshakable conviction that a dog should not have a waist.

Some dogs are naturally thin.. Thin is actually much better than FAT.. People tend to try and keep their animals chunky and fat and this is so hard on their hips and joints. If she is free of parasites and otherwise healthy, don't worry about her being thin. She is a shepherd and only 2, it's likely she'll start to fill out now.. Butter isn't a good idea.. Omega 3 oils would be better..
Keep her thin if she is healthy, and you won't be fighting with those natural aches and pains of arthritis that many heavy dogs suffer from.

I would give her a good dose of D-wormer. Also, make sure her poop isn't runny. If it is, it's probably not the right dog food for her. I agree no more butter, and only small amounts of cheese as that can constipate her. After worming and checking poop, if she doesn't gain weight, I'd go for a checkup at the vet.

She may just always be a thin dog. As long as she is eating an appropriate amount of food, I would not worry. I would also not give her butter But you could try feeding her puppy food. There is more calories and fat in it. And feed her more often.

Take your dog to the vet and rule out intestinal worms, heart worms or other illness. Feed a high quality food such as natural balance.

If your dog is eating all the food, then try giving it extra food. It could be that your dog has a high metabolism, and it processes the food really fast, and it stays really skinny. As long as you are feeding it enough, and it is eating... then you should be okay.
