Why many people ask the same stupid questions over and over regarding visas and passport. Are the consulats/embassies not listed on any phone books?
These people have usually better informed than anyone, since they represent the countries that people want to visit.

Same with: "How many miles" or "How long the flight".
Answers can be found on ALL travel search engines (Orbtz, SideSteps, etc....)

At least those are asking for actual information, even if they could have easily checked the relevent government website (it's usually not even necessary to use the phone). What about the ones asking people to find cheap plane tickets for them? There was even one I saw asking if anyone here is a travel agent. Apparently Yahoo! Answers is even better than a phone book when you're looking for a phone number, let alone for information you could get by calling the relevent agency or organization.

Yahoo answers is anytime better, I feel.

Please understand, most of the time the government agencies are reluctant providers of timely information about anything that is remotely beneficial to the general people. As such people tend to ask around and collate all the possible information from various sources to do the requisite work with the government agencies.

Ofcourse, the people asking such repeated questions should first go through the answers in this forum so that the repeatations could be avoided.

Better yet, when asking a question on yahoo, why don't they look and see if it has been asked before??

Yes, YA is better--and a LOT more entertaining! I'd be more creative with answers if I didn't think more narrow-minded numbskull wouldn't report them.
