If I want something, They tell me to pay for it myself. I tell them I cant because I dont have a job and they tell me im not getting a job.
Im 13 turning 14 in about 6 months and where I live you can get a job as soon as you turn 13.
My parents have set up this thing where if I do something around the house I get money for it. But i find the prices are unfair. We have quite a large house and one of the rules are for $3 vacumn the whole house which takes me 2 hours. Things like that. Im not aloud to babysit or wash cars either. Im also a only child.
My parents expect me to earn at least $40 a month by the thing they made. I usually only make $15. I need to pay for my $30 a month cell phone bill, All my outtings, Anything fun I want to do..etc..
I know I could easily get a job. But they wont let me.
My friends parents told me it isnt up to my parents to decide whether I should get a job, Its up to the person who hires me.
Im not sure what to do.
Do you have any ideas?

Keep asking for money to buy things that are out of your budget. Get applications for jobs to show them that you are sincere in your desire to pay your own way. Follow through and submit the app's. If they really don't want you to get a job, they will give you the bucks and/or dig it that you are serious. Initiative usually smacks 'em, leaving them with no alternative but to let you grow up.
If you keep the job, no matter how crappy it is, they will believe in YOU as a person. As you keep the crappy job, continue to submit app's to other jobs and then go for it when something suits you better; you were looking for a job in the first place---don't be afraid to change to another job. Don't quit before you are hired at another place. Give notice so that your boss doesn't think you're a flake. You'll feel better in the long run and will get a positive review for future jobs. Sorry, but that's the way it works. Good luck!

How are your grades? Your parents may be concerned about how working will affect your grades. If you reassure them that you will not let your work get in the way of your school work, I see no reason why they shouldn't allow you to work 15-20 hours a week during school time, and 30 hours during the summer vacation.

Instead of arguing with them. Sit down and write a letter stating why you want to work, and that it will not affect your school work, or your chores at home. That way you can get everything in that you want to say before they try to dismiss your idea. Good Luck!!
