I thnk that it is pretty obvious that most people do not understand the bible. This holds particularly true for those who thank god that the bible was originally written in English, and who think that through some type of magic they can understand the fairy stories that came through in the English translation. For example, I read the story of adam and eve in Hebrew and i read it in English. In Hebrew, it is a far deeper story than the fairy story that comes across in English. It is still just a story, but the story in Hebrew has far more details that are lost in the translation. It seems that a fairy story is good enough for English only believers, since god fills in the blanks somehow, yet obviously without telling people the blanks that are being filled in. I probably know more about what is actually written in the bible than that majority of true believers.

The person without the Spirit of God cannot understand the things of God according to the Word of the Lord written in 1 Corinthians 2:14. Even a worldly Christian will have trouble understanding the scriptures (1 Corinthians 3:1-3; Ephesians 4:17-19).

It's scripture. The -ure suffix means "action, process or function." It has the function of ensuring the scripts are made, disseminated and continue throughout the bad times.
It is a political book in that it claims to expose the workings of Satan, so it's existence is a tenuous mixture of God's ability to use any measure available and Satan's liking for politically expedient ways of lying about God. Paradoxically, Christianity's large-scale misrepresentation of the meaning of love might be what's helping to preserve the Bible.

When I was younger I took part in Bible study, could quote'em chapter and verse. Never really figured out what it all meant, too many contradictions, too many sayings that had to be interpretted by someone before they fit together. All in all the work suffers from poor editing and a lack of creative focus, but you'll get that from a book that was written by multiple authors in differing centuries and cultural settings.

Understanding the bible is child's play. I laugh my long and hard for those that say they need to pray to God for understanding when simple intellect will do.
The spiritual and functional of the bible are false and it will take great leaps for those that are indoctrinated in to its teachings to find eternal truth.
There in no God only creation. Love is creation. Creation is truth, wisdom, and knowledge but I don't expect many to understand this. You would have to look within for this truth not pray to a God.
