here are some things i gathered from reading biggoted posts directing hate toward christians, i would like to know what you think of them, also christians and anyone feel free to chime in..
1. following a star will lead you someplace, sailors used stars for navigation FOR CENTURIES! you think it couldnt work to find a new born king?
2. why persecute and deconstruct things you dont understand, such as christs message of the truth, LOVE, and EQUALITY (we are all gods children and worthy of his love) it seems to me that the people who bash him always say way spun out of control statements and dont posess a knowlege of what the truth is why make yourself look so ignorant?
3. why be a biggot? why would you put it out there so strong that you hate, and are biggoted? those are not attractive traits! we all need to get along, i have NO PROBLEM with someone who doesnt beleive or someone who beleives something else, why do non beleivers persecute?
4. if you dont beleive why do you care at all?

Sailors followed the North Star to navigate by. I heard that it's possible that the three wise men were lost. Not saying I think that, but I read it.

You make an assumption that we don't understand the Bible or what is contained in it. Which is ignorant in itself and is the same sweeping generalization you accuse us of making. I have read the bible. Repeatedly. I understand it perfectly well. I rejected it after doing quite a bit of research.

I do not hate Christians. I am marrying one near the end of this year. I am not a bigot. I hate organized religion. I hate what it does to people. I hate how close minded it makes people, and how quick to judge others. Thankfully, my boyfriend is not like that at all.

Why do I care? Because people are trying to use the bible as a way to legislate the morality of my country. I have a major problem with that. Religion has no place in politics, and vice versa.

1. It was said in the bible there is only one Earth, meaning no other planets out there.

2. What Truth? Who dictate it? What Love? The creation of Hell? What Equality? Jews are the chosen people?

What you think is the truth hasn't been proven, yet you take it as such and dictate other to follow, else it is hatred towards you. Isn't that kind of hateful feeling of Christians?

3. Who is the bigot? Going around cursing people to hell and treat others as 2nd or 3rd class citizen and thinking themselves to be a cut above the rest and then be a cry baby when you can't answer a simple question, thereafter push all the blame to Satan, another figure that has not been proven?

Non-Believers does not persecute, it is the certain Christians believers who are judgmental and claims all non-believer of Christ will go to hell, is that not persecution?

4. We do not really care, but then if every other day some stupid idiot come to tell you you will be going to hell, do you think we should care?

5. Look, who is the one who are full of himself claiming victim and yet calling other ignorant, bigot and persecutor?

6. In fact, I have quite a few Christians friends who had not sever their ties with me when I decided this faith is not for me. They are definitely more intelligent then you a few folds, yet I do not see bigotry within them. They are extremely tolerant with others, explaining their faith and discussing it. They accept the fact if you are not affiliated with god. They do not says things like "If you do not believe in my brand of god, you will go to hell".

(P.S. Definition of persecution : To oppress or harass with ill-treatment, especially because of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or beliefs. ...., you got the idea?)

1. Sailors use the known patterns in stars to calculate navigational directions, ie. North, South... Peter Pan and the three fictitious Wise Men are the only characters known to have "followed" a star to a specific destination.

2. I actually understand Christianity a lot better than you. I'm an atheist because I learned so much about God and Christianity that it became no longer believable. I will match Bible knowledge against you any day.

3. Bigot? I'm not a bigot. But I do know something about persecution. Throughout history, no one has persecuted more people than the Christian Church in it's various incarnations. And I have a BIG PROBLEM with Christians intent on escalating the current Middle East problem into a World War because they think "Jesus" is going to come back. I also have a BIG PROBLEM with Christians (like Pat Robertson) who think it's OK to pollute the planet as much as they want because when "Jesus" comes back he'll restore everything.

4. See that second part of #3. But there's more. I can't stand to see people living in delusion. As a former Christian I feel as though I must make amends by helping others see ther error of their ways.

1. You can follow a star anywhere, but beleiving a story from a 2000 year old book of fairy tales is a bit much.
2. Is it persecution to say, "I believe differently than you and now I'll explain why." Is your faith so weak that it cannot suffer honest inquiry?
3. Who is a bigot? My view is that religious people are fooling themselves and thinking irrationally. Your view is that I'm going to hell. That is not bigotry, its a conflict of OPINION.
4. It bothers me that you can preach at children and convince people to beleive in superstition, while at the same time its considered wrong to point out that religion is nothing more than a collection of superstitions and fables. Why do I care? Because in order to make the world a better place we need to employ REASON and free thought. Religion is the antithesis of free, rational thought.

I care because the people in my life who are religious, base their entire lives around something that is completely bogus. I care because redirecting our belief and faith from a spooky father figure in the sky, to the people around us, maybe sounds like a better way to live. I don't disagree with Jesus' supposed message of truth, and the christians do have a mostly solid foundation of morals, but do you think the witch trails where people would literally be burned alive would be necessary if it weren't for christianity? Even today extremist muslims have a problem with other peoples religion. Superstitious beliefs bring about more harm then good.

Are you serious about argument #1? There is nothing magic about navigation by stars. Navigation by stars works precisely *because* they are a fixed frame of reference independent of life on earth.

I'm all for spreading messages of love and equality. Are you ready to give love and equality to all? It seems most Christians these days are unwilling to give equality to homosexuals.

I care because extremist conservative Christians in the U.S. are trying to rewrite history and the U.S. Constitution. When moderate Christians start speaking out against this, then maybe I'll go back to my other interests in life.

I missed the 'love and equality' message during the recent 'ban gay marriage' constitutional amendment vote. Apparently, by not being married and by thinking that maybe, just maybe my relationship should be recognized by law, I was destroying marriage according to those 'love and equality' Christians. And I'm the bigot? Please.

Why be bigoted? We've been asking that in the gay community for centuries.

4. I am an agnostic. I neither believe nor disbelieve in God. I have insufficient evidence, so I draw no conclusion. I don't want others to purposely deceive themselves so that their lives are more comfortable; I see ignorance as a prison, and knowledge of fundamental things a key to freedom. I think we should live our lives as best we can, regardless of whether or not God exists.

I do not like to hear any rude and crude remarks about anybody. I just feel sorry for people that are so unhappy they feel the need to say bad things. Maybe one day people will stop being so mean to each other. Peace be with you.
