A person (Jaiden) is sitting at a park bench writing in a book. Another person (Kaiden) walks up and asks "What are you writing about?"
__Jaiden answers "I'm writing a book about my family's religion. We believe that the world was created from a tiny grain of Corn, which is why we worship Corn as our God and savior."
__Then Kaiden says "Well thats the stupidest thing I've ever heard! How can corn be God? Corn is food and besides everyone knows that the great Oracle is the one true God."
__"Not everyone believes that the Oracle is God. Who's to say that your religion is better or more right than mine? My family has believed in Corn for 500 years and the Oracle has only been around for 150 years. My religion has stood the test of time while yours is still a baby by comparison" said Jaiden.
__Kaiden and Jaiden argued for some time about who's religion was right, neither of them giving an inch. In the end they walked away, having solved nothing.

To those of you that said the story only scratched the surface I'm sorry but I ran out of room, I'm only allowed 1000 characters. This story is based off of a discussion I had with my brother when he claimed that his religion was right because it was older than mine and could be proved with facts. I then told him an extended version of this story (only the oracle was a street sign, [we were driving]) and asked him who was right, the person who had been worshiping corn for an hour or the person who had been worshiping the street sign for 15 minutes. He said my analogy was cute but short sighted and that I was going to burn in hell.

Corn is stupid. I'm with Kaiden. In religion you must pick a side or you are not following your religion. I'm so tired of Muslims and Christians and Buddhists that get drunk (with me). And have unmarried sex and so on and so forth and then claim to be Muslim or Christian etc... If you can't follow the rules you're not a Catholic! If you can't follow the rules then only you are the same as the others. There are religions out there that are better than others. Just as there are people, or companies or ice creams or ant colonies that are better than the others. Nothing is equal, there is always a measure for first and last. Clearly the Muslim religion has fallen down the ladder (in terms of providing comfort), and the Mormons feel more reassured than ever. The Catholics are bleeding members while the Jehovahs Witnesses are now gaining 2 million new recruits a year. A religion that promotes genocide is worse, yes WORSE, than one that promotes peace. There is clearly better and worse.

There's nothing like a reasoned, unemotional, well researched analogy to bring a point home...call me when you get one!!! =)
Just kidding...I suppose if I was just walking around, looking at the surface of things, I'd reach this conclusion..It's so much easier than really doing the hard work to really get at the truth.
One of the things I must agree with here is the lack of violence...isn't it true that Christendom has a background of 'enforced conversion' in some cases...like the Crusades, or the Residential schools...I wonder if there is a faith out there that really lives like Ghandi said when he expressed the feeling that If we all followed the precepts outlined in the Sermon on the Mount, we would have a paradise hereon earth? Naw, too much work!..right?

Nice little gem which will make most of the atheist here somewhat content - however this is a forum that allows not only the different religions to debate and form opinions based upon the information open to discussion but also for the so called atheist to put in their Two Cents thus keeping things somewhat interesting.

I am sorry, but my religion has been around for 6000 years, oh, no wait! than came christ, what 2000 years ago? K, everything was cop(coep)ascetic? Oh, Sh i t e, no, there is one more, what, 1500 years ago. No 1700 years, going through it's adolescent years. Yeah, that's it! Give it up you hyppocritical oafs, ONE god, sons of Abraham, you jokers are trying to trump the well being? Grab a hold. Hear is what was meant to be. Love ONE Love ALL. What does it matter who we believe in? Just BELIEVE!

Your writing is powerful, however the "plot" leaves one thinking merely what the tale is approximately. Is she merely annoyed along with her faith? Is she thinking suicide? Is she without relatives and/or pals? by using ways, a real good author does not might desire to hotel to vulgar be conscious/words (fvcking) to tell the tale. It does no longer something to enhance the tale. in any different case, on your age, it is not undesirable. you have the makings to be an exceedingly good author.

And to sum up your story; a citation from Robert G. Ingersoll:
"That one word, "religion," covers all the horizon of memory with visions of war, of outrage, of persecution, of tyranny, and death."
"Whoever imagines himself a favorite with God, holds other people in contempt".

You didnt REALLY need a story to prove your point lol, I suppose any logical person can reach that conclusion but logic cannot reach people of faith so..idk, you're speaking to people who already know and ppl who dont want to listen.

Unrealistic. There wasn't even mention of threats of physical violence or eternal damnation. It must not have been a religious discussion at all.
