I was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease back in 1991, called (SLE) Systemic Lupus, I was not over weight.
But I would think it may have an effect on your system. I ask my doctor if there was anything that could enhanced my immune system, because I was tired of being sick all the time. I was told no. Now another auto-immune disease called Fibromalagia, which is a muscle disease & very painful was diagnosed. Now my thryroid is barely crawling & this is with medication. Arthritis in every joint,
Osteoporsis, & Osteoarthritis. All of these are caused by a
auto-immune system that doesn't want to work. Now I'm gaining weight from all of the predisone & other ant-inflamatory medicine. Prior to 1991 I was never sick and weighted 115 lbs. I walked 2-3 miles per day & worked out at a gymn 3-4 times weekly.

So speak with a physician and ask if there is anyhting new on the market, I hope it is. Good Luck!

Hi, great question and one I've worked on for many years.

Your immune system is the key to over all well being for the rest of your life and mistakes now can cost you pain and suffering all through your life.

The best way to improve your immune system is through diet and exercise, sleep also plays a huge role in this as well as the way we think and the stress in our lives, how we deal with it.

Being over wieght suggests that you have room for improvement in all these areas and I would like to direct you to my website to read up on things I have done to improve my immune system.

There is alot about various foods and how these foods can be good for our health or bad.

I am, what the doctors call "a walking miracle" since I had a very crippling form of Rheumatoid Arthritis which was not being well addressed by medications.

Through studying about the immune system I have successfully returned my body to a healthy state, and, today live pain free, able to do all of my activities again, without the use of any medications.

Please do not be frightened off because it is a site on Rheumatoid Arthritis. Everything I have done and written about are things that would greatly benefit the average person.

Hope this is of some help to you, and best of luck!

Yes, being overweight does not equal healthy any more that being underweight. In fact, you can be anemic and still be overweight by not eating healthy or if your body is not producing iron. Being overweight usually correlates with other health issues like diabetes, high blood pressure, gland problems, and circulatory issues which can effect the efficiency of your body's immune system. You can also build a week immune system by previous illnesses, especially those that require repeated treatment with antibiotics. The stronger an antibiotic, the longer it takes for your immune system to rebuild it's own antibodies/defense. A recent study also showed that having cold feet can cause your blood vessels to constrict, thus reducing your bodies immune system's effectiveness (when confronted by virus/es at the same time).

Yes being overweight can hurt your immune system. Diet and exercise are great to help build it up plus taking a multi vitamin. Vitamin and Mineral deficiencies can cause weak immunities also.

I'm not a medical expert or anything but, I would definitely suggest Zinc tablets and Vitamin C for boosting ones' immune system. The one thing that may weaken an immune system is excessive exposure to microbes. I also believe that "fat cells", (not excessive amounts) can contribute to the body's ability to "fight off" diseases and thus boosts ones' immune system.

Exercise of at least 30 minutes a day will help to purge toxins from your cells, while helping to recharge your whole body.

The healthier you eat and the more regular your exercise regime, the stronger your immune system will get.

Storing fat also means storing toxins that can weaken your immune system.

Also, if you are going out in public try taking a drop or two of oregano oil before hand. It can help your body beat back invading viruses.
