why are you here. atheists cannot provce there is no God, they can only point out contradictions in religious texts. believers can't prove there is a God they can only share how they feel. so why are you here, to spread what you think, or to spread half-truths or theories. seriously, what is YOUR motivation?

To find out what other people think and to explore the various views on the subjects that come up here. Part curiosity, part hunger for the odd bits of wisdom that pop up.

What's yours? *G*

I can only speak for myself...so I will.

I am on R&S in the small hope that something I say regarding my beliefs in God and Christ will somehow strike a cord in someone who is not a believer. My only motiviation is the desire to have them have what I already have. .....the personal relationship with my Creator and his Son. It has made such a drastic change in my outlook that I want others to share in its joy. I'm not talking about being "saved" as some put it. I am simply talking about the relationship itself. Everything else will or will not be.

Well, my individual message is that of spreading love, tolerance, understanding, and positive behavior. The only way to live for me and to spread the desired message, is to do what is right and be a living example of love.
I believe that the text of the bible is a guide in life (with the inclusion of the lost gospels), and that individual thought/feeling must be incorporated for the words to come to life. Which is exactly why each person can interpret the texts in many ways. We were given the gift of
our own thought process with no intrusion from God in our decision making...Free will. His word is what He used to influence our life, and show the path which is right. Faith is a heartfelt emotion for me, no it can not be seen, physically touched....It is like love, it can not be seen, it can not be physically touched, it can be felt, it can touch you..... No one seems to doubt love, and they are the same message. To love God, to love our fellow brothers and sisters, to love those who have bad intentions, to love the world around us, and to share love with all who are lacking.
It has changed every aspect of my life. Interacting with others is how I show that not all people of God are critical thinking, blindly educated, morally self righteous Christians. These people interpret the word to benefit the evil of the world and perpetuate all the things which are against God's message. The church is responsible for their miseducation and has polluted the religious texts by negating the texts found with the Dead Sea Scrolls. These texts show that the Bible is not a complete text as we know it today. The churches have polluted the interpretations and their taught messages to make their buildings necessary for worshipping God, to make money.
My motivation is to show people by action what positivity and optimism given by God can bring to the lives of people who have not been touched in spirituality.
God Bless you Tony!

Neither too learn and understand other peoples point of view. It is so easy to put each faith in a box and say "Here is what being a Christian is" or "Here is what being atheist believe" Being here reminds me that life is not always like that. Yesterday I even discovered a website for Christian goths. So in a sense it clears up my understanding too. But if I can clear up some of those boxes then that's good too.

My motivation is fear.

I have a sincere belief that if we continue to take superstitious belief as "the ultimate truth", we will snowball into a warring society based on "my invisible friend can kick your invisible friends @$$". Which will most likely lead to our extinction or at the very least global catastrophe.

So as a Atheist i hope to influence anyone to just look at the facts and you the melon on your shoulders.

I come to this site because it has become an addiction of sorts.

Beside were else can someone talk to complete strangers and not worry about what the other thinks. Because each person who comes here are already firm in what they believe and are not going to change because of what I say. Just voicing my opinion and beliefs.

my motivation: Mark 16:15 "Go into all the world and spread the good news to all of creation." I believe I spread the truth. I have good reason to believe so. In fact, my reasons are soooo good that i've dedicated my entire life to it.

plus...i'm kind of addicted to this crap....it's the teacher in me...man!

It's the same thing. Wording shows bias...if I don't agree with what you're preaching, I'll say you're trying to "spread your opinions," as if you're encroaching upon others. If I agree, I'll call you a teller of the truth, because the truth is worth it.

I don't preach. I answer genuine questions about my faith, like the one just now asking how Judaism has stayed alive all these years. If you honestly believe that all people are doing here is evangelizing for their faith, read a little more.

If you spread Personal Truth is it not the truth. if you need someone Else's truth to make you sleep better at night. OK
I don't need to listen or read about something-2000 years old or more.
Listen to the Self............
