no, go to india someday and you will find out. travel to new delhi & you will see why.. on one side of the road there will be a huge, nice glass building full of glamour, and on the other side of this road there will be homeless people begging for money, naked dirty children, and terrible tents. Indians are ignorant and there has not been a leader that can change things. All they need to do is mabe start off with a campaign to pick up trash?? but of course noone will. 8 year olds drive there. the only paved roads are in the main citys, traffic rules are noone, so dirty, cops are seriously crooked, you may kill someone and paying the jail will get you out with no trial. yet this may seem ludacris to anyone who reads this and thinks it if fine. but it is actually ********. It is not doing well such as Iran in the 70's. There will be two classes, rich and poor. One side of this country will have wealthy busy streets as the other side as the good ol villages and doings.

I think India will do very well over the next 10 years. It is a country of very intelligent, industrious people.

The only things that might hold them back would be:
1. Not making peace with Pakistan and worse yet, going to war with them.
2. Keeping the caste system. I think it will harm the country as it modernizes.
3. Not keeping terrorism in check.

As far as becoming a superpower. I would have to say that it is possible. I think that if India plays its cards right, they could be among the U.S. and China as the future superpowers. Although, I also think there's a good chance that we in the U.S. could detroy our economy through social policy to the point that we could lose our status as a superpower quite easily. I hope not...but I'm a realist.

If India gets some neighbors and forms a union maybe but now they are providing tech services and power is not what you see.

I suspect we'll find it pretty much where it is now. Continental Drift is a very slow process.
