Exodus 35:35
He has filled them with skill to do all manner of work of the engraver and the designer and the tapestry maker, in blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and fine linen, and of the weaver—those who do every work and those who design artistic works.

In the New Testament it doesn't mention their function to the church anymore?

Images, drawings, sketches and sculptures could be a very dangerous idolatrous practice when a person comes to distort certain elements to attract, delude his or her audience....especially in media, cinema or galleries...

But if God still ordains certain persons to be his workman in the arts and crafts area....Does it mean artists are still children of God after all? Or the New Testament has no evidence or mention of them "artisans caled by God" anymore because there is no more Temple as in the O.T. era?

"Jesus" came for one purpose, so we can do away with religions belief of righteousness. We are found righteous through the blood Jesus shed on the cross. I came to show us that God is love and to show us how much He loved us. "Jesus took out the middleman, so we can have a direct line to God.
I do not believe that the craftsmanship thing was meant to go away, it is obvious that skilled people are still needed for the work of God.
I believe that we are all created with the gift of creation, whether it is painting, metal working, sculpture, food, decorating, whatever it is. I believe that God gave us these gifts for His glory, what we do with this gifts is up to you.

We all have some kind of gift given from God. It is up to us whether or not to use it for him. Imagine the stunning discovery of the wheel, music, and metallurgy, among other discoveries at the dawn of time. These were God's gift to humanity. Today, we se this as primative, yet these were parts of the foundation laid for our civilization.
as far as Idolatry, you can have some form of image, but you can not WORSHIP this image as a God. Today, many Christians have Christmas trees in their home during Christmas. The holiday itself was a heathen holiday. The ancient Egyptians, among other cultures, used to worship trees. This can become a graven image if you concentrate more on the tree than what we celebrate the holiday as: Christ's birthday.
As far as artists today, there are many I would not call artists. Maybe sick and twistd, but not artists. They could uses their unique ability for God if they CHOOSE to.

God gives every individual a special gift of one kind or another and I am certain this would include artistic gifts also. Why would you think that artisans are not also children of God. All people are his children...and I am sure that some artisans are indeed called by him to do wonderful things.
