Taking your pet on Vacation to Vancouver and Victoria will be quite restrictive on your travels. Generally they are not allowed in any commercial establishments, malls, shops, eating establishments or public beaches. Stanley Park in Vancouver would require leash and poop&scoop

As a fellow animal lover, and dog owner, I would definitely rethink bringing your dogs with you. You will enjoy your trip and get a lot more out of it without them, unless they are the under 6 lb. teacup variety.

Dogs are not allowed in most shops. Outdoor cafe's do some of the time ... I sit near the outside edge with my dog usually, but he is unusually large, too. (I also had a tiny dog I carried with me everywhere in a pouch).

If you do decide to bring your dogs, just kind of plan out your trip to be as pooch friendly as possible. I do understand not wanting to be separated from the rest of your family while away!

I hear, but do not know, that Victoria is less dog-friendly than Vancouver. Vancouver is very open about dogs compared to most places I have lived.

Depends on the type of dog.

Small 'pocket pets' are Ok as long as they remained CONTAINED. But anything bigger..forget it. All dogs in the public MUST be on leash at all times, and you must pick up after them. There are a few off leash dog parks in both cities..just ask when you get there. As for public buildings..unless they are certified service dogs, they stay outside the establishment. And most beaches allow dogs, but they must remain on leash unless otherwise stated. Some beaches don't allow dogs..just watch for signs.

I dont think they are allowed in any shops or cafes, unless its a doggy cafe. They are however allowed to be on leash in parks and on the beach. The only rule is you clean up after them. It is probably a good idea to muzzle your dog too, that way you dont have any worries. Have a fun trip.
