Avoid caffeine. Drink a lot of liquids, 'cause you get cramps when you are dehydrated. The best thing to drink will be hot water or hot chamomile tea, 'since it relaxes your muscles. I used to have crazy painful menses, no pain medication was effective, but since i started drinking a lot of hot water, i don't have pain any more. Good luck!

It probably seems like the very last thing you want to do, but exercise helps. You release endorphins which are natural pain relievers. Also, if you keep up the routine, the cramping should lessen over time.
You can also try a hot water bottle and a long hot bath. I also think a glass of wine is good.

Try taking Aleve for your cramps. They seem to help my daughter. If it's bad every month, you should see a GYN to rule out any underlying medical cause. BC pills can be a HUGE relief, in that they regulate, shorten, and reduce the amount of blood and pain in most womens' periods.

If this pain is coming at the end of your period, get to a dr. ASAP, as it is a sign of certain types of infection, such as pelvic inflammatory disease.

I suggest 1stly that if they are that bad and they are severe every month..see a doctor. He/She may suggest 2 things - bc pills to lessen the bleeding and the severity or a D&C (Dilation and Curettage)...see link below. But that's a last resort.

In the meantime, a hot shower and some sleep should help. You could get one of those heating pads that you place over your tummy.

My advice is to see your OB-GYN in order to rule out health problems such as endometriosis. Ibuprofen usually helps. I take 2 200-mg pills every 4 hours and try to keep moderately warm.

This can be a sign of low progesterone. Take a look at healthquest.peoplesway.com and look at protec and prohm. There are videos you can see at youtube.com if you search peoplesway. If you register for free at the healthquest site it will create a website for you and you can save about 37% when you order through your own website.

ibuprofen slows down bleeding if you take 800 mg, every 8 hours, since you're on it continuously during your cycle it helps with the pain for me at least. If this doesn't help talk to your doctor they may put you on a certain birth control pill to help.
