Not good. But it could be something else, like an infection.

A few years ago, mine was in orbit, and the dr wanted a biopsy. He did, and it was an infection. One prescripion, for 30 days, and the PSA was normal. Whew!!!

My dr said that prostrate cancer is one of the easiest to handle if caught early, if caught late, it could be very serious. ( Some doctor. Cancer COULD BE serious???)
My last PSA was slightly high, and the dr was in a dilemma. Do it now, or wait a year.
We compromised, get one in 6 months and call.

Ever have a biopsy before?? While being done it is a little uncomfortable, but when it's over, there are no after effects, and you can just go about doing what you usually do. For 5 days before, NO apririn or blood thinners.

A biopsy is the right thing to do. Good luck.

17.25 is very high. The normal is 4. However, my dad had a reading of 19 in November and has had it re-tested every month since and it went down every time. (It is now 5). Sometimes (as in my dad's case) it can be caused by infection. He had simply had a nasty cold, and was given anti biotics, so this affected the result. It will need a further test and then maybe an investigation, but it doesn't always indicate something sinister!

If you are refering to a psa reading for prostate, that is very high. It should be around 6. Anything over 10 they usually order a biopsy, but it can still be okay.

That is high, but not nessesarily bad. The bigger your prostate gland, the higher the PSA.
Wait for your biopsy results.

Sorry to say but it is WAY out of normal range. There could be some benign reasons for that but it is hard to believe they can account for that high.
