Is choosing a vegetarian diet the ONLY other alternative to buying packaged meat? I mean, I've heard how cruel and inhumane many corporations can treat their livestock, but i feel lots of the information we receive is bias.

Typically, in the ranches in Brazil, massive herds of cattle are allowed to roam free, so the meat is is a whole lot fresh down there. Factory food here is a completely different story..

So you guys are telling me there are NO other alternatives to factory meat other than kosher? And aren't humans omnivorous? I've read articles describing the hassle and inefficiency of a vegetarian diet; its not all that practical.. or is it?

And to choose a vegan diet for moral reasons are just as hypocritical; -
"Steven Davis, professor of animal science at Oregon State University, claims that the number of wild animals killed in crop production is greater than those killed in ruminant-pasture production and therefore eating meat causes less harm to animals than a vegan diet.[78][79] Gaverick Matheny, a Ph.D. candidate in agricultural economics at the University of Maryland, claims that Davis' reasoning contains several major flaws, including distorting the notion of "harm" to animals, and miscalculating the number of animal deaths based upon areas of land rather than per consumer." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vegan#Link_with_eating_disorders
I am, however, interested in commencing a vegan diet, as it seems to have many benefits, I just don't want to have to chug down bottles of vitamins every morning..

-Kosher has nothing to do with animal welfare. It only deals with slaughter. It is actually worse. The animal cannot be given painkillers or sedatives before being slaughtered,They have to have their throats slit while still fully conscious.
-------------------------------------------
I guess you could try to buy meat from a local farmer, but you can never be too sure on how it was treated.Never go to a store and buy "free range" and think it is humane. There are no requirements or guidlines, just because it says free range or humanely raised doeas not guareentee animal welfare,it just for labeling purposes(pretty much a gimmick to make customers concerned with animal welfare actually think they are buying humanely raised products)

“It is the position of the American Dietetic Association and Dietitians of Canada that appropriately planned vegetarian diets are healthful, nutritionally adequate and provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases.”
“Well-planned vegan and other types of vegetarian diets are appropriate for all stages of the life cycle, including during pregnancy, lactation, infancy, childhood and adolescence. Vegetarian diets offer a number of nutritional benefits, including lower levels of saturated fat, cholesterol, and animal protein as well as higher levels of carbohydrates, fiber, magnesium, potassium, folate, and antioxidants such as vitamins C and E and phytochemicals. Vegetarians have been reported to have lower body mass indices than nonvegetarians, as well as lower rates of death from ischemic heart disease; vegetarians also show lower blood cholesterol levels; lower blood pressure; and lower rates of hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and prostate and colon cancer.“

mmk, kosher slaughter is more humane than most current factory methods. In it, you slit the animals throat quickly and I believe the animal isn't supposed to be aware of it, so it's over very quickly... but then again I have no idea what non-koshre slaughter is like, I've just heard some very nasty things. If you live in a big city, it's very easy to find kosher, vegetarian, and even vegan food. Most resteraunts have at least one completely vegan option, and more vegetarian options. It is possible to keep a vegan or vegearian diet without "chugging vitamins", if you remember your food pyramid. Protein lost from not eating meat can be made up by eating high-protein substitues, such as tofu, eggs, or fish, depending on the level of vegetarianism. You can look it all up on wikipedia.

Why not just go vegetarian? Meat alternatives are cheap, very tasty and the soy protein is good for you.
Aside from that, you could find a local small farm to buy from or grow your own chickens, cows, etc. You could go fishing if you like fish. You could also go hunting. If you say you can't stand the though of killing your own food, I'm going to call you a hypocrite, because it's stupid for someone to whine about hunting being cruel when they'll eat stuff that other people killed.

I am obviously biased, but why not go visit a slaughterhouse and see for yourself?
---
That is definitely NOT the definition of kosher.
In Kosher (and Halal) slaughter the throat of the animal is slit and it bleeds to death.
In factory farming, they're stunned first with a captive bolt pistol (basically they hit the cow on the head with a hammer to stun it.)

Actually no. There is something called a Kosher diet. It is very hard to find this type of food tho. They only eat meat in which the animal isn't hurt when it dies. You can search it on google or yahoo to learn more.

i'm non-veg through fact my mothers and fathers have been non-veg. yet now when I examine a fact of LORD BUDHHA , I even have pretty much stopped eating non-veg. LORD BUDHA reported--- U have taken tens of millions of rebirths on the planet. a variety of of situations those lambs or pigs or fowl have been ur father, mom uncles or babies. Why to consume flesh of ur mothers and fathers etc.? Swami Ramdev explains -- whilst u get offended , u start up sweating, start up trembling etc, whilst u are afraid , u start up sweating , trembling etc. Why ? through fact there r secretions of harmones etc. interior physique. So u can comprehend how many undesirable secretions ensue whilst an animal is killed . eating this variety of flesh is quite undesirable for psychological well-being. Now u see a variety of of swine/cow/fowl -flu etc are spreading through animals. apart from Nature has no longer made us to consume non-veg. through fact a non-veg eating animal has very long gut to digest it yet v have small one. V have not got teeths like tiger. All non-veg eater animals drink water by using tongue yet v drink like cow.
