i got my macbook in early march (2007), and since ive been using it, from when i first turned it on, a software update popped up.(its not a pop up) and i dont know if itll take up my memory (like its supposed to be there) or if its just a software update. cause, id like the things for it, front row, itunes update, security, and stuff that helps my camera be better(somehow). should i update it?

Hi Destiny S,

Go up into your System Preferences settings. Under the "System" heading, click on "Software Update" icon. Click on the "Check Now" and it will give you the whole list of updates.

You can uncheck the check boxes for "Check for updates", so that it won't be bothering you, anymore. Then you can just check it manually, whenever you want to, at your convenience.

I have a dial-up, so I wait until I have to I'm where I have more of a broadband connection to download updates. I would recommend updating. On the new Macintosh hardware especially.

Click on the Blue Apple (top left corner) and choose Software Update...

Updates are the single most important task on any computer.

Yes. While not all updates are necessary or beneficial, for the most part it is smart to keep your applications up to date as updates often add additional functionality or fix bugs or security issues.

Yes you should, the updates are important to keep your computer up-to-date and running like a mustang, and don't worry, there are no viruses for mac, so you can install everything that is designed for mac and stay cool with your mac.
