not saying there is or isn't an omnipresent god or creator, and doesn't matter whether i believe the bible is good or bad. it is a well known historical fact "the bible" was written by men, "inspired" or not, it was still written by men, anyone can say they are "inspired" but inspiration in itself is not verification of what was written, the question is merely put for debate : )

i've read it and studied it, more than once, i believe many psychological mixing of what people want in the best of this world, and then the authors use god as a means to alter behaviour for their benefit, not necessarily the benefit of all, as the ten commandments, sounds very capitalistic and aristocratic to me, is that all the most important ten commandments a god would impose on earth, don't take a wealthy man's wife, don't take his donkey, yeah sure these are very important things, more important than others of community or sharing? yeah an intelligent god wrote that, then tried to make it more believable that a god wrote those commandments, but somehow got broken or lost, jeez

I have been inspired on occasion, although I must admit I thought I was most inspired when I was drunk. So, your point is well taken...but I also recall that at least the old testament was written by the established priesthood...they are just like the Government, all committees, no individual freedom of decisions.

In many ways it is a history book I am not saying its all correct history ,but it will give us a look into the time it was written that we can not get from other places-
Yes it is written by men. I had a baptist minister tell me once (this is the no drinking no dancing no thinking kind of minister)that while he believed it was the inspired word of god, it was still written during a period that has little to do with now and we need to take that into account.I wish more people would

If its not, then a WHOLE lot of people are in a heap of trouble!

What happens when you get a speeding ticket written by men? You either pay that ticket or get your butt down to the courthouse! What happens when we recieve a court subpeona? You show up or get arrested! What happens when we get a bench warrant written by men to see a judge? (unless youre a politician you go straight to jail until you can see the judge) What happens if you try to cross borders without proper documentation written by men? You get deatained! (like my wife and I did coming back from Canada right after 9/11)

So if these uninspired documents have so much power and authority and have nothing to do with God, what about those that do deal with God? If we have this much respect and reverence for the law, how much respect and reverence should we have for Gods law? How much should we listen to these truths testified by men about God shared with us that ARE inspired by a being that has the power to create and destroy the entire universe?

The Bible is not the word of men. It is the word of God spoken through men. Yes, men wrote it, but God was telling them what to write the whole time. And this is the Holy Bible I'm talking about, not some weird version or the "Book of Mormon" or anything like that. Since, it is God's word, it is the Truth (a.k.a. NOT a fairytale!). (The words are God Himself. John 1:1 - "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.")

Although many of the stories in the bible seem to be alligories...

Many of them seem to be historical and supported by archeology, and anthropology...

I think the Bible is a history book of the semetic peoples...

However, I agree with your point in that: we discovered Troy and the Troyan wars were real, but it doesn't mean that Athena and Hera were mad at Aphrodite...and that Hellen of Troy (sparta) was the most beautiful woman on earth and that she hatched out of an egg.

it just means that the Troyan Wars were real. And that historians in those times, used allegory and metaphor to make their stories more outstanding.

it was writtin 100 years after the "death" of Jesus by men that mixed religion with the cultures and values of their own society, for example one of the authors of the 4 gospels is Greek the greeks believed in many gods and that gods mated and had children with mortals hence hercules who was a demi God, so its not surprising that the author would have made Jesus the son of God

each e book on earth is written via guy. you're making a extensive false impression. you're making use of the Abrahamic recommendations of religion and making use of to an eastern faith. God isn't a writer, God isn't a lord. God in Hinduism, is definitely the reality at the back of all of relative life, unmanifested non-life and awareness. Theistic Gods are basically products of lack of awareness, in spite of the undeniable fact that we are in a position to be satisfied to fulfill any gods, any human, any animal in a private point with "love" because of the fact "love" in Hinduism is defined because of the fact the absence of separation. in spite of each little thing, we are each and each of definitely the reality, and Hinduism specializes in us determining this and appearing with morality. somebody who says they talked to Krishna the two ability they're speaking with different people, or they have punctured their brains.
