I remember a friend saying something about their ringing ears after going to a concert.

They said that the ring you hear is the last time you'll ever hear that frequency of sound. And since adults can't hear nearly as much as kids, I almost have to believe them.

Is this depressing fact true?

I actually just watched the movie Children of Men and one line of the movie was, "You hear that ringing in your ears? That 'eeeee'? That's your ear cells dying. You'll never be able to hear that frequency again. Enjoy it while you can."

The ringing in the ear is caused by a very common condition called Tinnitus. 36 million Americans suffer from this discomfort. It is mainly caused by exposure to loud music and aging, but can also be attributed to foreign objects, wax, or ear infections.

Tinnitus may also be caused by allergy, high or low blood pressure (blood circulation problems), a tumor, diabetes, thyroid problems, injury to the head or neck, and a variety of other causes including medications such as anti-inflammatories, antibiotics, sedatives, antidepressants, and aspirin.

As far as I've read, never being able to hear that frequency again is true, although I'm not exactly sure how they would test it. You wouldn't be able to duplicate that particular frequency if you can't even hear it anyway.

Old men don't just pretend not to hear their wives, it's possible that they are no longer able to hear certain frequencies in their voice. The higher frequencies are lost first.

Is the ringing consistent or does it come and bypass now and then? If this is consistent ringing or whistling or buzzing 24/7 at a persevering with quantity then it appears like tinnitus - I actual have it. brought about the two via injury (in my case, i'm a sound engineer) or via age. regrettably this is incurable, in spite of the undeniable fact that it is going to no longer get any worse and you do get used to it over the years. If it gets relatively intrusive at night or while this is quiet, you may attempt a ticking clock or a radio on quietly to break it up slightly. (that's what I do.) If it is not consistent then it might desire to be the two wax buildup that's certainly rectified or in simple terms your aural nerves firing off each now and then, that's general. Please be conscious i'm no longer a qualified physician, yet that's what I remember as quickly as I went to my GP with the same concern. wish this enables, and robust success.

i heard when your ear is ringing ...then stops.......someone is talking about you. If it's your left ear ringing they're talking good things...if it's your right ear...someones talking badly about you~
As for going to a loud concert and having y our ears ring..........this could have damaged the inside of your ear canal. If it continues..get it seen to you could possibly go deaf*
