Some people have this naive assumption that if they know with their mind and have seen God, that they will follow him. With others, it is a huge pride issue. Take for instance King Herod. He interupted a trial just to have Jesus brought to him to do a miracle to entertain him.
People dont deny God based on what is in their minds, they deny God based on what is in their hearts. Most atheists would rather doubt their senses than acknowledge a miracle.

What's not to get? We just don't understand the point about why God needs to be so secretive. It just seems awfully childish to me that He would need to hide from us, and then tell us that we just need to have "faith" that He's there, or He's going to condemn us to eternal torturous punishment. If He loves us so much, and wants us to believe in Him and worship Him, then why not just show Himself to us? He supposedly can do whatever He wants, it's not like it would be difficult for Him. Why hide? He supposedly showed Himself and spoke to people ALL THE TIME in the Old Testament, so why won't He now? It just seems so silly that He so adamantly refuses to grant a simple request that would guarantee complete belief in Him, and complete and unquestioned worship of Him. Why does the worship have to be based on faith only? It just seems SO ridiculous.

Unfortunately, you have many examples in the Bible of God showing himself, and not worrying about "faith".
Parting the Red Sea, the pillar of smoke and column of fire, the burning bush, the booming voice, angels appearing out of no where...
And other religions have gods who appear too.
God has never been very consistent when it comes to not showing himself. He had Moses tell Pharoah about the ten plagues, and then caused each one to occur so Pharoah would -know- God existed. Obviously not very concerned about Pharoah's faith, was he (nor the faith of every Egyptian affected by the plagues, nor the faith of the Jews who lived through this).
So arguing that God doesn't show himself as a test of faith is really an excuse to say "I believe in something I can never prove, and being unable to prove it exists proves that the only way to know God is to believe in him in the absence of proof".
There's a lot that kind of logic can justify, none of it very good.
"I believe in the tooth fairy, and the fact that no one has seen the tooth fairy only proves that the tooth fairy requires we believe in it despite the absence of proof".

We would like to know for sure that we are making the right decision. I think that is only fair given the many changes god expects one to make and the pleasures one has to give up to follow him. After all, when I buy a car, I expect to see it first, right? This should be no different.

What a stupid supposition! You say we should believe simply because we are told to. Ok then I guess you should believe in the fluying spaghetti monster and fairies as well because someone told you to. Nope, if a god is real, he has to prove it, and he has never once done so! Faith is nothing, but your imagination . I'm sorry, I want solid evidence, not fairy stories.

God has shown Himself through creation, through the Bible, and through His Son, Jesus Christ.
The second coming of Christ was promised in the Scriptures and is eminent.
Sooner or later, scoffers will know that their unbelief was the biggest mistake they ever made.

I don't take it serious. It is just something I believe in only a
little bit. I think people that take religion too serious are either
mentally ill or ones that cause violence and even wars.......An old saying goes like this: "Never discuss religion or politics.
You will always offend someone."

What kind of response did you expect to get for this diatribe? Wow. Was there a question in there somewhere?
It's not your faith that there's a god that puzzles me, it's the faith you have that we even have a 'soul' that really tickles the p1ss out of me. Please find me one person in the history of the world that has one trace of evidence that would lead them to the conclusion that we have anything inside of us that remotely resembles a 'soul' and I'll start having faith in (a) god.

Yeah, it's a pretty common reaction when someone is asked to show evidence for something they can't prove.
But I'm not wasting my life believing in that something with a good reason.
