I have a pioneer DEH-P6500 head unit and i lost my remote for it. My buddy gave me one that is identical and said they're universal. This one however doesn't work, i've replaced the battery and still nothing. Is there programming or anything to make it work?

The best thing to do id visit their web site and buy a new remote designed to your head unit.

No, there's nothing to program; either it works or it doesn't. Either it's not the same remote or it's defective.
