Lamb Shanks and.........
Brown Lamb shank in some oil and transfer to a casserole dish and add some stock to pan to de glaze.
Bring to 180c in the oven and reduce heat to 165c for about an hour, the longer the better.
To go with that have some roast spuds and parsnips boil some peas and make some gravy or mint sauce with the juices as the meat is resting.
I was give this on a farm about 50 years ago as a kid and I loved it.
At the time I thought I was eating a whole sheep's leg and thought I was being spoiled rotten.
It is still a favourite meal.

Here's how it works with farmer folk where Grandma lives:
If you have your main meal at noon, (maybe chicken and biscuits and gravy), that is dinner. Then the light meal you have in the evening (soup. omelets, pancakes, etc) is supper.
But, if you have lunch at noon and your main meal in the evening, like city folk do, the evening meal is dinner.
As for tonight's dinner, I vote for a big dish of stuffing baked with pork chops on top and a squash baked along side, and some green beans. Then gingerbread for dessert.

Penne with sliced sausage that is marinated in a burgundy wine. Chop some tomatoes mushrooms and onions and basil. Simmer this with a few cans of stewed tomatoes. As the sauce simmers add some roasted garlic oil to it, you can make this with diced garlic. As a side make spinach salad with tomatoes and mushrooms add baco's and use ranch. Also you can't forget the garlic bread. And Presto a great dinner for you and any one that happens to come by, I'll be that at 8, LOL.

We're having pork chops, roasted potatoes and broccoli tonight.
You could make stuffed baked potatoes, bake the potatoes, remove potato from peel, combine with browned sausage (breakfast sausage) and cream of mushroom soup, and salt and pepper, then spoon back into peels, top with cheese and bake until heated through, 350 for about 10-15 minutes.

if you are having dinner, throw something in a crock pot like everybody else, if you are having supper, it will take alot more time & trouble, supper involves meat, a starch, atleast 3 veggies & some kind of bread. & most of the time all is fresh!!!
