I hired a woman to come and do house work for me. She is Jehovah's Wittiness and when I asked her if I could play some music she asked me not to play any thing that would promote Jesus.I think they believe in Jesus but they don't believe in the physical resurrection of Jesus. They think that only 144,000 will get to go to heaven. And they live under the threat of "dissfellowship" If they Celebrate Christmas, Easter, any holiday at all for that matter and also if they fail to convert a certain amount to their belief! So I would not say they were Christians as the word Christ means Jesus. Henceforth "Christians"

What is a Christian? The scriptures aside a Christian:

Believes in obeying the law, even the inconvenient ones, such as speed limits when late for work;

Believes in paying taxes, even though there are many ways they could avoid them, as most religions do;

Believes in keeping their word, such as to the IRS that they will not promote politics in the church, and they actually mean it:

Teaches their youth that waiting until marriage is preferable to using protection, and for the most part, the youths actually believe it....As a result, their denomination has the lowest rates of out-of-wedlock births and STDs....Yes, there is the occasional ones who would rather have their fun now than wait, but there are far more who choose to wait;

Treats their youth with respect, not just "do what you're told!";

Teaches their children side by side with the adults, the Bible as a whole, and not just Bible stories....The very young may not understand what they are being taught, but by the time you reach the age of understanding, they have a good basic knowledge of the scriptures;

Tries to attend congregations that never get so large that the individual gets lost in the crowd and since everyone is taught the same, it is easy to start a new congregation, with a set of elders;

Knows everyone in their denomination, whether in the congregation, the city, or the county....When a disaster like Katrina happens, every member of the denomination living in New Orleans was accounted for and evacuated;

Attends a church that compliments a neighborhood, and not overwhelm it, with a lot of expensive decorative features;

Attends a church that has all their members read the whole Bible, repeatedly, and submit their thoughts on where the denomination is doing that is not in keeping with the Bible;

Wears out a Bible every few years, from use; and

Can tell you what actual day Christ observed the Last Supper on, the only day he said to keep in Memorial, without referring to the man made secular holiday.

As a Jehovah's Witness, I can tell you that YES we ARE Christians. We are called Jehovah's Witnesses because we give witness to Jehovah (the accepted English name for God based on the four Hebrew consonants of YHWH). We live our lives by the principles laid out by Jesus and all of the principles recorded in the Bible. We look to Jesus as being the way to God (or Jehovah) and accept the sacrifice he gave us with his life to redeem ALL mankind. We use the Bible as our "life manual" and try our best to follow the principles set down in it like, "do unto others as you would be done by" etc. If that isn't being a Christian then what is?

They are the true Christians, the ones who got out of the empire of false religions on earth as commanded in Revelation 18:4... they have nothing to do with Babylon the Great, except to expose her for what she is and warn of her coming demise when she will be no more... They are the only ones on earth to do what a true "Christian" is supposed to do according to Christ and not to popes who are so far away from acting the way Jesus did, with their fancy robes and castles and maids and servants and priests who get transferred from one town to another as they are caught raping little boys... Must I really go on???

My Wife and I are Jehovah's Witnesses and we are Christians. We believe that God Almighty is Jehovah and his Son is Jesus Christ. There are so many people that lie about Jehovah's Witnesses and try to convince others that we are a cult. This is not true, please don't believe the lies. I searched and searched long and hard to find the truth. I used to believe the lies I heard about Jehovah's Witnesses until I started studying with them. I had a free home bible study and my eyes were opened to the truth. We always tell people if they want to know about Jehovah's Witnesses to ask a active Jehovah's Witness. If I want to get to know you personally I'm not going to ask some one that does not like you. I'm going to spend some time with you and get to know who you really are.

Jehovah's Witnesses are Christians.

Jehovah's Witnesses teach that no salvation occurs without Christ, that accepting Christ's sacrifice is a requirement for true worship, that every prayer must acknowledge Christ, that Christ is the King of God's Kingdom, that Christ is the head of the Christian congregation, that Christ is immortal and above every creature, even that Christ was the 'master worker' in creating the universe! Both secular dictionaries and disinterested theologians acknowledge that Jehovah's Witnesses are a Christian religion.

The Trinitarian arguments are intended to insult and demean Jehovah's Witnesses, rather than to give a Scripturally accurate understanding of the term "Christian".

In fact, the bible most closely associates being "Christian" with preaching about Christ and Christ's teachings. Review all three times the bible uses the term "Christian" and note that the context connects the term with:
"declaring the good news"
'teaching quite a crowd'
'open eyes, turn from dark to light'
"uttering sayings of truth"
"persuade"
"keep on glorifying"

(Acts 11:20-26) [The early disciples of Jesus] began talking to the Greek-speaking people, declaring the good news of the Lord Jesus... and taught quite a crowd, and it was first in Antioch that the disciples were by divine providence called Christians.

(Acts 26:17-28) [Jesus said to Paul] I am sending you, to open their eyes, to turn them from darkness to light and from the authority of Satan to God... Paul said: “I am not going mad, Your Excellency Festus, but I am uttering sayings of truth and of soundness of mind. ...Do you, King Agrippa, believe the Prophets? I know you believe.” But Agrippa said to Paul: “In a short time you would persuade me to become a Christian.”

(1 Peter 4:14-16) If you are being reproached for the name of Christ, you are happy... But if he suffers as a Christian, let him not feel shame, but let him keep on glorifying God in this name

So why do anti-Witnesses try to hijack the term "Christian" and hide its Scriptural implications? Because anti-Witnesses recognize that it is the preaching work that makes it clear that the relatively small religion of Jehovah's Witnesses are by far the most prominent followers of Christ:

(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded

Yes, Jehovah's Witnesses ARE Christians.

A Christian religion bases its beliefs on the teachings of Jesus Christ and recognises his sacrifice.

"For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life." -- John 3:16

The fact that the Jehovah's Witnesses don't believe in the Trinity doesn't make them non-Christians.

The Bible says that Jehovah God, Jesus and the holy spirit are different. Jehovah and Jesus aren't equal. Jesus is God's first creation. The holy spirit is God's active force.

"....the Father is greater than I am." -- John 14:28

"He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation." -- Colossians 1:15

"When the helper arrives that I will send YOU from the Father, the spirit of the truth, which proceeds from the Father, that one will bear witness about me." -- John 15:26

Christians are followers of Christ.

Jesus said : “If anyone wants to come after me, let him disown himself and pick up his torture stake and continually follow me.” (Matthew 16:24)

Those who are true Christians have full faith that Jesus Christ is God’s specially Anointed One and only-begotten Son, the Promised Seed who sacrificed his human life as a ransom and was resurrected.

Jehovah's Witnesses do just that. They have full faith in Jesus and in the Bible.

True Christians have full faith in the Bible. (2 Timothy 3:16)
Which is why they worship Jehovah as The almighty God. (Psalm 83:18) They even call themselves Jehovah's Witnesses based on a scripture. ( Isaiah 43:10-12)

They follow Jesus commandments such as to abstain from blood (Acts 15:29) fornication, idolatry, and to preach the good news (Mathew 24:14; Matthew 28:19,20) And they imitate Jesus in glorifying God's name. (Matthew 6:9)

And everything they teach is backed up from a scripture.

So Yes they are Christians.

In society we speak of 'religion ' and automatically believe that this term correctly describes proper acknowledgement and service to God. Most people think that any and every religion is valid, maintaining a false belief that it does not matter how we serve God, just as long as we believe in ' something '. This is the reason the world is filled with so many different religions such as Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, etc., as well Christianity and even atheism.
Although Christianity is often referred to as a religion, it is more appropriately described as " followers of Christ " who considers the Bible as the sacred word of God. And-Christianity itself is broken down into many subgroups; some following the Bible closely while others mingle mankind's philosophy and human reasoning with scripture.
The last category of doctrine has many names applied to it such as Mormonism, Scientology and Jehovah's Witnesses just to name a few. These are often referred to as a cult ( specific formal religous worship ) because they do not follow the Bible in truth. Men ( as well as women ) incorporate their own logic over the steadfastness and purity of God's Word. A large number of people follow such false teachings and doctrines because ' it sounds good '. or ' it sounds holy ' and because it does not make its followers accountable for their sin in life.
Jehovah's Witness organization was started by Charles Taze Russell. The Jehovah Witnesses claim that they use the Bible to establish their beliefs, yet much of their doctrine is far from the truth that we find in God's word. Some of their doctrine contain ' some ' truth while other portions are totally void regarding spiritual understanding.
Following the death of Mr. Russell, Judge Joseph Franklin Rutherford took over leadership. It was during his leadership in 1931 that the organization adopted the name Jehovah's Witnesses. New and prospective members are encouraged to commit themselves to the society as soon as possible. The title of ' Publishers ' is given to Witnesses who dedicate approximately 1200 hours a year in fieldwork which includes door-to-door recruitment, soliciting and studying. Those who are committed are called ' Pioneers '. Group meetings are called congregations and their place of worship is called ' The Kingdom Halls ' rather than a church.
The following statement has been referenced from ' The Watchtower ' magazine of April 15, 1939 and May 1957 from the book ' The Kingdom of the Cults ' by Walter Martin ( October 1997 ) page 97: " We acknowledge as the visible organization of Jehovah on earth the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, and recognize the Society as the channel or instrument through which Jehovah and Christ Jesus give instruction and meat in due season to the household of faith. If we are to walk in the light of the truth, we must recognize not only Jehovah God as our Father but his organization as our " Mother ". It remains absolutely amazing that God would place His trust and confidence in this organization to lead and guide His people as a ' Mother ', and also that He would wait until the early 1900's to open the eyes of His followers.
It means that billions of people who lived prior to this Society coming into existance have apparently been misled; it means that belief in the Bible during the past centuries must have been in error until the Watchtower Tract Society was ' divinely ' provided to mankind. Most people should be quick to recognize that the truth of Scripture as well as common sense has given way to this false, deadly, deceiving philosophy of man over the Word of God.
Hope this answers both of your questions.

Yes they are, but there are some Christian denominations that like to claim that they are not. I presume that they say they are not, because they are jealous of them. I find it difficult to believe that it could be because the JWs have different beliefs, because every alleged Christian denomination has different beliefs.
