Was he champion material were it not for his self destructive tendencies .
Great amateur career , knockout specialist , undefeated going into his first Bowe fight .
Two Bowe fights , Golota dominating the score cards , disqualified for low blows .
Quits on Tyson , quits on Grant .
He was given multiple title fights , two of which ended in decisions against him , each contoversial . He also lost two title fights in the first round .
I think the man hates himself . So when he finds himself on the verge of success , believing he is not deserving , he does everything he can to fail . A form of circuitous suicide .

Mentally Golota simply didn't have what it took to stop hitting Bowe low, I have no explanation for Andrew's behavior. I was in Auburn Hills when Tyson hit Andrew with a thunderous shot that echoed across the arena and should have pole (pun intended) axed any normal man. Andrew took the shot and made it back to his corner only to realize the next one would have most likely been fatal. Golata got hit as hard as Tyson ever hit anyone, and honest to God I don't blame him for quitting, I understand why Andrew refused to continue. No human being could have survived two such vicious impacts without serious permanant damage, I have no idea how Golota took the first one without dropping like a stone. I wince just remembering the punch, I gotta give Mike credit he could drop bombs with the best of them, and he dropped one on Golota that night.

If you quit once, it makes the next time easier to quit. Golota was a quitter, excuses are just that.

Andrew Golota was like a big Mike Tyson. He was a natural talent - big, strong and with decent skills. His problem, however, was psychological. Like Iron Mike in his later years, Golota fought with unstable mind which led to too many lost opportunities. For how else, would you explain those back-to-back disqualification losses to Bowe while he was leading in the scorecards on both occasions? He kinda lost to himself in those fights. It's sad because he was a very promising heavyweight prospect who could've gone to greater heights.

Andrew was a good boxer. As his career went on, the boxing world discovered that he is nothing more than an average fighter. Golota had nothing special. He was a fighter who got title shots he didn't deserve.
