what is the top U.S. special forces branch (what is the best)?

Like would it be the navy seals, the delta force, etc. or would it just depend on the situation?

Special Forces are the Special Forces. (Green Beret)

The top elite force is Delta Force. They are under Army command and are comprised of the best-of-the-best from all branches of the Military. You can't pick Delta Force as an MOS. It's one of those where they chose you. Not much is known about them, they are pretty secretive.

Next would probably be the Seals, then Special Forces.

If you want to determine the "best" by how hard it is to get into, the order of Special Operations forces would go as follows:

1. "Delta Force" Top secret, counter-terrorist, draws from all other branches
2. Navy Seals
2a. Special Forces (Green Berets)
3. Army Rangers
3a. Marine Force Recon

I know the Airforce Pararescue guys are badass as well and same with the coast guard water rescue, but they technically are not part of Special Operations Command.

There is none that is the best. Each service will tell you differently. Furthermore, each special forces has a different job. I am enlisting as a special forces candidate for the Army (Green Beret), and I prefer them over everyone else. Force Recon for the Marines train with the Army, because they lack certain schools. Regardless, each one has different jobs. It all depends on which service you prefer - I prefer Army.

Furthermore, they all have mostly the same type of training.

If you are considering joining the military for one of these positions you should re-think. These positions are extremely difficult to get into. You have to be in peak shape before you go and then you will realize just how bad of shape you really were in. The drop rate is extremely high due to injuries and just a lack of strength and motivation. If you don't make it in you will end up doing some job that you really didn't want to join for. So make sure your back-up plan is something that you want to do. I would say navy probably has the best special forces group. Good luck.

special forces are special forces there is no best the army has green berets the navy has the seals and the air force has has the pjs they are all special in their own fields the seals are good in the water the grbrts are good in specialist tactics and the pjs are good in urban and built up fighting but 1 is not better than the other

That's like asking which is better, the guy that mops the floor or the guy that washes the windows. Each has their own task, although SEALs is the most physically demanding and the green berets have to be smarter than Dr. Who and Macgyver combined.

I don't think any of them could be considered the "best"...they're all elite. A better question might be who has the best special service branch in the world, and to that, I'd almost have to say the Israelis...
