Completely agree! Let's add to the list the parents who don't keep hats on infants in cold or windy weather nor cover them with a blanket while walking.

Well i live in a fairly temperate climate, and my elder son(3years old) will strip off a jumper within 15 mins of putting it on, he gets hot very quickly, so i usually just dress him in long pants and a long sleeved but light shirt with a singlet underneath, shoes and socks. If i am taking him out at night, i take a jumper or jacket with me. I dress the baby appropiately but i usually find he also overheats quickly too. I have been approached by complete strangers who will question my choice of clothing for my children, usually in an abusive manner. Yes you are right that a child dressed in a shirt and shorts or a small suit is likely to be cold, but i worry more if they arent wearing shoes or socks in cold weather. And yes some parents are clueless, the ones i hate are the women who dress their pre teen girls in little itty bitty tops and mini skirts or micro shorts, the sort of style usually aimed at late teenage girls. The worst one tho are the ones with fat girls with their stomachs bulging out of a tight mini halter top or bikini, tight little hot pants so everything is hanging out. I know every child is the apple of their parents eye but, god, look at it realistically, these things arent appropriate on a 10 year old girl.

And then there are the people like me: Foster parents who get the kids dropped off without adequate clothing.
Is it ok if I take a child to Walmart to purchase this clothing that's weather appropriate, or should I leave the kids at home?
We got a little boy dropped off last Friday who had no coat and very little clothes. His sister had to be picked up from the hospital on Saturday from injuries inflicted by the parents. They'll probably get these kids back after the court hearing on Wednesday.
Get a clue. Sometimes we have little to no control over it!

I am a kindergarten teacher and I see this all the time. Parents send their children to school in short sleeves and shorts in forty degree weather. They also send them to school in these skate shoes with the wheels in! I don't have children, but I have definitely learned some things I will not do from these parents that have no sense!

I thought I was the only one who noticed this!
I have seen teenagers dress in shorts in cold weather but they are old enough to make a decision.
In my town I constantly see young children without coats but they do not appear as if they are cold. But I still think the parents are THE parents and should make them.
Good question.........

Completely right. People can be really ignorant sometimes. I live in Ohio and Easter morning was cold and rainy and going in to church this young mom had her little girl (maybe 13 mos) dressed in an Easter dress, no socks or shoes and not coat. My mouth must have been gapping open in shock.

Some kids have very high energy levels, and if you put on them too much clothes they quickly protests. You must assume that parents know their kids better than you do. If the child catches cold, that's a punishment for the parents, they don't do that deliberately.

Right - well you're right. Some guy in Wisconsin got arrested for that this winter in a cold freeze. He was also drunk, his power went out, and walked his kids to his girlfriends without dressing them properly.
Now I need to go sew my kids mittens on, they're always ripping them off.

RIGHT!!!! you see it all the time....they think it is cute to dress their kids that way and dont realize that it is harmful....most of them dont really care they just want their kids to be "cute". i feel bad for those kids, their parents should really read some books or take some educationally classes on how to raise children.

I agree. However, I do have a 5 year old that always gets hot. He often strips down to his undershirt. When we go outside I do make him put his coat back on. We live in Ohio.
