How much of your life do you feel like you are truly alive?
After a long spiritual search, I've felt that way pretty constantly, maybe not so much when I'm tired, but it's been great.
I'm proof that you really need to find your own beliefs to really appreciate life.

By alive, I mean everything is vibrant, like kind of surreal almost. I feel energized, inspired, I'm enjoying the moment I'm in, even if I'm just doing something like typing this question.

fourmore, no I don't, but I won't let that stop this. If anything I'll feel more alive. I know what it's like to connect with a child. I couldn't even imagine how cool it would be to have a child of my own.

I love what you say about having a child. As a Mom of two, (ages 4 and 1 1/2) I can tell you there is no time I feel more alive than when I'm with my children, and seeing the world through their eyes. They can stand and laugh for hours at the sight of pebbles being thrown into a pond. They bounce up and down and squeal with excitement while learning to fly a kite. Playing catch with Mom and Dad is the most fun game in all the whole world. I'm endlessly in awe of them. The feeling of fascination you get being a parent never gets old. I wish there was a way to slow down time, so they don't grow up too quickly. I try so hard to cherish every single moment I have with them while they're little, so I don't look at them as adults and think, "Where did my BABY go?"

I was thinking of this earlier as I attempted to find a way to truly "live" all the time I spend at work.
Right now I'm in a bit of a holding pattern, so only about 30% of the time do I feel truly alive. It's tedious and a lot of work, but the reward will be great once this foundation work is done.

I've found I feel all things more intensely since I realized it is up to me to be who I wish to be (37 years ago now).
Owning myself and my spiritual growth makes every decision, and every consequence to such a decision, much more important when I realized I was the one making these decisions.
Recognizing my responsibility to myself and to others to make wise decisions as well as to learn (from both success and failure) makes me more aware of what is happening within me and around me.
Someone I cared for a long time ago pointed out to me that most people sleep-walk through life. My difficulties, she explained, arise from my infernal habit of waking people up to the fact they've been sleeping their way through life, never really owning who they are or where they are going.
Now I think it is not really a deliberate choice to wake people up. It is a natural consequence of being who I am in their company. Through my example they realize who they could be if they accepted the power they have over their lives, and further realize they are not where they wish they were.
It is that unsettling feeling that wakes them up.

I feel like I'm alive all the time, I feel like I'm enjoying life a bit less, but still a lot.

Heaven's not a place that you go when you die, it's that moment in life when you actually feel alive. So live for the moment.

mmmm the miracle of mindfulness. I was running before the sun came up this morning, and watched the birds weaving patterns in the air.

I guess you do not have a two year old child then.
Edit:
I thought not. However much you love your two year old there are many many times that you feel drop dead tired.
