I would vote for the right black candidate, but America as a whole would not. Unfortunately, fame-seekers, like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, rely on a nation divided, and they give black politicians a bad name. I like Obama a lot, but I disagree with him on some of the issues that are very important to me. So I can't vote for him unless he is put up against a Republican candidate that is just awful.
As for an Asian candidate, I just don't know. I happen to like almost every Asian I meet, as do most of my white friends. So, again, it would not be a problem to vote for one for me. However, you'd be surprised at the number of black and Hispanic friends that I have who dislike Asians as a whole. I can't understand why, and none of them have a good reason that explains it. It's kind of weird.

Well, there has already been a black president, William Jefferson Clinton Blythe who ran under the banner that character does not matter in the office of president. We found out the hard way that he was wrong. He proved to be a disaster but is probably not representative of all blacks. Condoleesa rice would probably be a good president. We have a black running for president that is half arab and has a Muslim religious background. I do not think America is ready for a president named Hussein so close to 9/11 and in the middle of a terrorist war.
An Asian would be a very good idea, especially Filipino.

If he had he same values I do and is a Christian, then yes I would consider voting for a black or Asian man for President. Same as I would a young or old man for President, I vote my conscience, not color.

The reasons that I vote are:
Candidate's voting record
Candidate's stated views
Candidate's experience and accomplishments
Candidate's capability to do the job
Candidate's ambition to get things done
Candidate's ability to be a leader
I really couldn't care less about the amount of pigment in their skin or what shape their eyes are.

I tend to think so. Some bigots will still have problems with it---but there will always be people like that.
And just a friendly note: This should really be in the politics section.
Peace out.
