All through scripture death is called a time of sleep until Resurrection Morning. I love the way 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 tells it.
"But I would not have you be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
FOR THE LORD HIMSELF SHALL DESCEND FROM HEAVEN WITH A SHOUT, WITH THE VOICE OF THE ARCHANGEL, AND WITH THE TRUMP OF GOD: AND THE DEAD IN CHRIST SHALL RISE FIRST:
THEN WE WHICH ARE ALIVE AND REMAIN SHALL BE CAUGHT UP TOGETHER WITH THEM IN THE CLOUDS TO MEET THE LORD IN THE AIR: AND SO SHALL WE EVER BE WITH THE LORD.
Wherefore comfort one another with these words."
The first time God cleaned the earth with water. The second time He will clean it with fire so during the cleansing process we will be taken from the earth until it is made new. He has promised us that, "Eye hath not seen or ear heard the things that the Lord hath prepared for them that love Him". So if you think of the most beautiful home, music, nature etc. here, it is nothing in comparason to what we have awaiting. If you become old, feeble or sickly in some way then death does not seem so scary. I think of death as my last great adventure. So curious. God bless you. Mmm

As a Christian, I will give you the Christian answer.

Whether there is an after life or not, Christians hope for eternal life. It is a hope that God keeps his promises.

Unfortunately, there is no written record about the after life. Jesus who was raised by God did not give any details. Nor did anyone that Jesus asked God to raise. Simply put, we have Jesus teachings about reaching the father, but no details about what happens when we get there.

As for lying awake a night, don't bother. Live each day one at a time and don't worry when death comes. What you believe is yours. It would be easy to claim that some other ending is possible, but we are mortal. Being mortal makes us who we are.

nah its not just you! i do it too sometimes!!!

yes, i believe that there is an after life, and i know that there is a God!!!!

i dont know what happens when we die...we might just close our eyes and thats it..or we might get killed (i hope NOT) or we might have a heart attack or...never mind! you get the picture!

do you believe in God? it seems to me that you are not sure and are curious....

i believe that if you live a good life and listen to God (says in the bible, or quran (cant spell it sorry muslims! no offence) or the Torah)****

you have a good chance of making it to heaven (the 'afterlife)

***these are religious book

they tell you how to live a good life. we must love one another (aka not like partner love! like be nice to everyone as best you can love!) and help, be kind, humble, FORGIVE others and apologise etc.

try talking to someone religious, there are plenty of ppl on this site that you can e mail. you could ask a question like 'could i e mail someone to learn more about bla bla......" or watever

there is help available...

anyway...good luck

God bless

He loves you!

When you die, you have no more worries.

What keeps me awake at night is not knowing what to do TILL I die, and how much longer do I have until I do.

yea yea yea, exactly. I have converted myself into a Christian, partially because I want to have eternal life through Jesus. Here in China, only 3% of the population are Christians. I have been following Jesus for only one year, but I feel so good, so much joy and peace in my heart. It's simply so good to feel God's love and grace. Yea.

I did that some when I was younger, you will get over it. The best thing to do is to just not think about it. It dosent answer any question, but it helps you sleep.

That is normal and healthy

We have a place inside us that is empty and void and we long to fill it

We were born with the knowledge of God the Father

He wants to come in and fill that emptiness

To know where you are going brings great peace..............

I wonder the same thing myself. I think its just like going to sleep, only without dreams or nightmares. An eternal sleep.
