Well, here's another old dude saying make sure it's where you can't see it in a bikini! At least the 1st one. I got a dragon since I was totally into Kempo way back when it wasn't so ridiculously sensationalized. Now I regret it since I choose an intricate design and after 20+ years it gets quite fuzzy! If the first hidden one works out well, you may decide to be more bold and get one that's not totally hidden. ONE FINAL WARNING! How can I say this without it sounding like some pick up line? Models that are professional don't get tattoos! You could easily be that! My step daughter is quite possibly the most beautiful girl on the planet. She has almost 10 of them. It amplifies her personality, but, there goes walking on the model platform! I would really hate to see you ruin a potential lucrative career!

This is a totally personal decision. Take into consideration that they are permanent and you will have it forever--it is a body modification through art. If you can't commit to forever, then don't get it. That being said, I have tattoos and am completely happy with my decision. Tattooing almost becomes addictive--you can't get just one!I started at 18 and am planning to go for more. I am in no way covered from head to toe or anything. :) Anyway, to answer your question: Pick a design that means something to you. Don't feel like you have to pick the "flash" that is up on the wall of the tattoo parlor--the experience of being a tattoo parlor can be nerve wracking for most people and as soon as they see the "flash", they feel the pressure to pick something. My suggestion to you: Look on different websites and start to pull different designs. If you like flowers, pick one that you like for the color, shape, etc. Make an appointment with your tattoo artist to just chat about the design, your expectations, and what suggestions they can give you on your design. I can't stress enough how much tattoo artist appreciate a customer that is well informed and is willing to hear their suggestions. I included some sites for inspiration purposes! Hope this helps in making your decision! :)

A few things to consider...
Tattoos are forever! You really should select something that is important to you, either symbollically or visually. I have 3 tattoos and they all represent something very significant.
You should also do research and pick a really good rated parlour. Look at the artist's portfolio and ask questions!
Wait until you're 18 if you're not already. Your skin grows and stretches most before you're about 18. You could get a cute tattoo then have it stretch weird later on.
The more bone there is in the spot, the more painful it will be. Also, black is the most painful colour to put on.
Finally, be prepared to pay! Tattoos aren't cheap so make it a good investment.

I have Phil Ochs tattooed on my arm (people singer) I even have "Never Die" and a rose tattooed throughout my ft, with a tigerbat above the ft on my left foot for Tiger Army. I see me getting a pair extra musician tattoos. I have an Ochs lyric tattoed around the again of my neck (Sacred are the scars) and an Op Ivy lyric around the insides of each fingers (It's lovely I could say... I do not need it some other approach.) I'm considering a sizzling-rod tradition tat, skulls and roses and a banner, gotta decide upon the lyric to move within the banner regardless that. As it stands in these days, I'd ordinarily select "In loss of life as in lifestyles, I will come up" or "My sense of right and wrong contains the burden of blood."

Did you guys know that tattoos are permanent? I just found out from the various e-mails i've received! I'm so glad people were here to tell me! Man, i'm also gonna have to nix my plans for running around only in a bikini when I am 80. Apparently tattoos won't look good when you are old and wrinkly.....really dampens my plans of being in Hustler when I hit my 70's and 80's. Are you jealous of how sexy the untattooed people are going to be when they are old?
Well I guess I should clear some things up because obviously some peoples minds are clear today others are a bit murky. I am not 12, I have several tattoos, this question was my way of being silly and calling out the stupidity of 'tattoos will look horrible when you are 80" point that so many people like to make. I did reread the question and I don't see how anyone assumed I was knocking tattoos. So lets get some hooked on phonics.....and lighten up people! Life's too short to be so angry.

Shop around there are so many variations of flowers, you wouldn't want to be stuck with a plain rose that every old lady in your town has. Tattoos are beautiful and represent you so represent it well by putting you in to the creative design.

Since you are indecisive about whether to get a tattoo and whether a flower is a good idea, get a henna tat first, then see if you want the real thing.

If you have to ask for the opinions of others, then no you should not get one. Getting a tattoo is something you should not jump into. You should have an absolute idea about what you are putting on your body for the rest of your life.
Trying to get one removed costs much more than the tattoo itself.

You should only get a body mod that you really like. Take time to find a tat parlor that will give you what you want. You could even have them custom draw it for you so its that much more special. I hope it turns out nicely! GL!
