i personally think that Women should not be in the front lines of battlefields.

i think women are capable of doing a great job and probly no worse than the male soldiers and there is a place for women in the military but just not on the front line.

But being realisitc the front is no place for awomen.
the armed forces are made up of mainly males, men act differentely whilst around women and whilst in there company.
and in a combat situation you would want everyone feeling comfortable with everyone.
its just how it is.

i wanna hear everyone elses views

It is a volunteer army, and women many years ago protested regarding discrimination, gained their rights. If a female joins the military, she needs to understand that she has to train like the rest and do the duty like the rest of the military does. It is not like a lot of older military movies, the women were always nurses, which was nice, but it is not that way anymore. Women fly planes, drop bombs, fight hand to hand and every thing else. I have a aunt that is retired from the army, she has saw a lot of changes, which she says if for the best regarding women in the military. Never under estimate a female soldier, they can be one tough cookie, which is good. I am not against women in the military or on the front line or any place they want to be at. As for as women distracting the men if on front line, there is usually no time to think female here, they are all working together as a team, and usually a very good team. Being realistic means knowing the women would not be there, if they did not want to be, so be proud of them too.

I respect women who decide they want to be in the front lines. Although I have seen time and time again women being put on a pedastel and favored more. Men have a tendency to pick up their slack and more to the point, there arent too many females out there who would be able to move a 180 pound guy out of harms way fast enough. Especially if he is also wearing another 40 pounds of armor plus the extra equipment he is carrying. Plus I have seen time and time again women lock up when the stress becomes too great. Some blame the training but all us guys had the same training she did. We had to split up her gear and take turns carrying her untill she calmed down enough to where she could walk.
Im not saying that every woman is like this because I know there are some out there who could and would put a hurtin on me if they had/wanted to. But on average most women cant carry an extra 40-80 pounds worth of extra weight and perform the same job as well as a man can.

I'm not against women being in the military, but I still believe there are certain jobs and areas in life where a man is more capable of handling more dangerous and harder situations. My daughter is in Iraq for the second time and I thank God that women aren't allowed in the front lines! I'd be a basket case and I know she would be more stressed out. Any situation over there is dangerous and I know , like in any war, all this will have long-term effects on all our soldiers, both mentally and physically.

Women can be every bit as good a soldier as a man can. If it comes down to it, women can kill an enemy as well as a man can. Maybe even better.

It starts back at the grade school level, or even earlier. Little boys can be so sweet. Little girls can be downright ruthless.

When I first started working for the school system as a playground supervisor, I started out believing that I had to protect the little girls from the vicious boys. But after a week or two I realized, it was the little boys who needed the protection from those ruthless little girls.

Men might act differently around women for a few days, but with everyone's lives on the line, I think they'll soon learn to do what they need to.

ya know how every one says not to mess with a bear cub in the woods?
cause his mama will rip your still beating heart out of your chest and eat it while you watch?
I love an gentleman who holds a door and adjusts a chair
but I assure you I would not hesitate
to watch your back, shoot a threat or carry you to safety( OK maybe drag)
maybe it comes from having all brothers
but I have no doubts that I could do it.
meanwhile I am a Sunday school teaching , scout leading, gymnastics coach, stay at home Mama
with my oldest child in basic training
I think if you knew more women like me you could learn to feel comfortable

On the front lines, every one is scared shiitless, and if some female insists on being there when she doesn't need to be, well it's her butt ! I can't see the grunts whilsting away, worrying about some chick, when some raghead is pointind an IED his way !

Whats this comfortable nonsense you refer to ? If you mean watching his backside, hell even a woman can do that, if she's all that he's got !

I don't think they belong on the front line.

Their was a highly effective elite Female Russian unit who kicked *** all over Europe in WW2. They can hold their ground. So, that's not why.

But the thing was.... the unit was ALL female. There is a reason.

Military will always be mostly male. That will never change. It's a guy thing to get dirty and play with guns.

Like I just said in another question...
A male soldier is more likely to help a helpless female than step over his best friend bleeding to death. It has been proven time and time again. That sort of thing is hazardous not to just the male soldier, but to all his fellow soldiers and most importantly THE MISSION.

Seeing a female soldier die also hits a male soldier alot harder than if he sees a male soldier die. PTSD will be much more likely if Females were in Combat Arms.

Plus the things you list. It's also proven that males do bond together as a group alot better if it's all male than if there are females amongst them. They are also more likely to do stupid things to try and impress them. There are also more chances of inside violence sparked by competing males.

It's just nature.

You can't not agree with me. Upper Echelon keeps females out of Combat MOS's for the exact reasons I mentioned.

That's a fair point, but then perhaps we should have battalions that are made up of just women.

I am a decorated, disabled veteran who advises all young people to stay away from our military right now. Democrats and Republicans alike are abusing the selfless service of our troops. American military members are dying to meet political ends not to protect our nation. Don't let millionaire power-mongers like Bush and Clinton waste your life so they and their friends can line their pockets with more cash.

If you want to serve your country, join your local police force.
