Ok So...
Next year (9th grade) you can be on a dance team called the Silver Stars for school. In order to be on the team, you MUST attend a certain camp with the team. Unfortunately, that same week i have my church mission trip, and there is NO WAY i would ever want to miss that! So im thinking of asking the Silver Stars director i there is any possible way to be on the team but miss camp. Do you have any tips on what i should say, do, or how i should present myself? its much appreciated!

Hey cool im gonna be a freshman next year too!!! lol you could tell the person that your religon comes first and you have been planning on going for the last year. that would show them that you are very comitted and that may be a key point for being on a dance team. I was supposed to audition for a music school that is really hard to get into they only take about 30 kids but then I learned about my surgery a week ago and they said o that is really fine and they said that I could reschedule. I am trying out on my flute and there are like 30 flutes trying to get in!!! ahhhhhhh!! lol major competition!! lol I am rescheduling for an audition in 4 weeks so that means I can practice more!!! The dirrector also said that I could also audition on snare drum!! That has extremly hard rythms!!! there are like 20 auditioning for that part!!! wish me luck!!! if you have a cross wear it and make sure that they can see it!! hehe ya... good luck please e-mail me on what they say!!! :-)

If you phrase your question to the Silver Stars director the same you you have it here, she will at least listen.

She will understand your predicament.

She may or may not allow you on the team. There is no way to sway her other than to politely explain your situation, ask and hope. One of the main purposes of the summer camp will be team-building. If you are the only member of the team not to have attended the summer camp, you will be at odds from the outset. I am sure the director knows this.
