In opposition to an answer above I believe that religion is being systematically targeted by secularists but not all religions; only Christianity. The reason is they are Socialists and they realize that they cannot defeat capitalism as long as Christianity abounds. Wipe out Christians and Freedom is lost.

I think it is dumbing down the human race.
There is so much advancing we could do as far as technology & medicine etc..... But religion is just one of those things on the top of the list of things that segregate the world & keep us from progressing past the point we're at now.
Back in the 50's & 60's they used to make movies of the future where there were flying cars and space travel...... & they always labeled those "future" years as the year 2000. but look at us.... Sure we have made a lot of advancements since then, but the world is stuck on this mundane religious hierarchy that causes people to believe they are better than others or that they are going to heaven whilst everyone else is going to hell & they feel the need to push their religion down on everyone because they supposedly care about them going to hell. I mean come on.... For the most part these religions are THOUSANDS of years old, and there were ones before that that have come & gone already. Religion is a fleeting fad. It's only a matter of time before christianity fizzles out as well as the other extremist religions.
When that happens the human race can finally accept each other as fellow humans, and we can move forward for the benefit of ALL instead of the benefit of one group of people.

To answer that, one only needs go back to the French Revolution. They believed just like about 80% of YA responses.
They rejected the truths of the Reformation by Europe, and outlawed the Bible. They tried to reason intellectually, and abolished God's seven-day week. Legalized divorce on demand, killed preachers and practicing Christians. They danced in the street in revelry while dragging the Bible hooked to a donkey's tail.
The carnage was so appalling that the National Assembly unanimously reinstated God into their Constitution. \
The results of their experiment with atheism was similar to that of the Soviet Union--they became more reverent and searched the deep things of God in His Word.
Please, let us not make that same mistake.

It gives those who wish to dictate the lives of others something conveniently intangible to hide behind / blame for their own human agendas of intervention into the lives of total strangers who aren't even bothering them.
In this pursuit, it's often stated that w/o this scapegoat, there would be no morality, which is simply putting the cart before the horse (explain some aboriginal type with no concept of deities who still behaves in a completely upstanding manner). The human mind created both morals and superstitions, superstitions created nothing.

My answer might offend people . So dont read if you are going to use vulgar language.
1) Prophet Muhammad were among the first person to teach humans to brush your teeth for cleanliness.
2) He taught us how to handle business. Prophet pbuh said "Do not buy fish in a pond for that kind of business contains fraud" and he pbuh said " Do not buy a pregnant lamb" .Why he said these? Because you may get less fishes than what you paid for. Also the lamb might give birth to a dead baby and you have paid for it.
3) Prophet Muhammad pbuh taught us to leave whatever you do when you are attending your meal so that you concentrate on the food , he (pbuh) asked us to chew food slowly and thoroughly. Science recently prove this makes you feel full quicker and you tend to eat less. Good for people on diet .
4) Prophet Muhammad pbuh said " A very good Muslim is someone who takes care of his hands and his mouth"
So religion teaches us to mind our manners, to be clean physically and in our daily activities

In other ways in society,it seperates people because of diferent belifes.I had a freind, and when I told her I didnt belive everything in the bible, she stoped talking to me and called me athiest.
I dont HATE religion,im just not all over it.I dont care what you belive in.

for my area i'm no longer for faith being abolished. Your question nonetheless brings up an engaging factor. Are those people giving to charity because of the fact this is they have faith this is the outstanding element to do, or in simple terms because of the fact they're being advised to? And if people stopped giving to charity altogether, that funds does not in simple terms disappear. government might enhance taxes and fill the void left via faith run charities.
