I went to Bass Pro Shops in Nashville Saturday and bought a Daiwa Exceler 3000. It was $49.99. I am extremely happy with the purchase. I took it out to the lake today for the first time. I don't think I could be happier with a spinning reel. It casts far, it is smooth, it's not big and bulky, and it comes with a free extra spool. There was also a Shimano that I liked, but it was $79.99. I think I probably felt every reel there, but for me, those two were the best by far.

I would personally go with the PR-3500 myself. However thts from the ad you presented. What reel would i choose to but in that price range? I would say either an Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 6000 or a Bass pro shops catmaxx CMX3. And match either/or up with a Bass pro shops brand: Power plus trophy class model no:1056 heavy action fishing rod. Now that......is a very good all round setup. Use 17 lb test to start outif you go this route. total cost for both a reliable setup like this will cost you $75.00 to $85.00 maybe. Reels (either/or)will definitely however be in the ballpark you are wanting.

The link you posted was for a combo, if you look at the bottom of the page they have a user rating area and it has got some pretty bad reviews. I fish alot and catch alot of small mouth. They can put your equipment to the test. I like Shimano, you can pick up a decent one at Wallmart for about 40$ It is kind of hard to tell what reel to buy with out knowing what you want to use it for. Feel free to email me if you have something else you think I may be able to help you with.

This spinning reel is a shade over the 50-60 dollars but at only $64.95 MSRP it is hard to beat with its 10 ball bearings and all metal construction. It should last at least one lifetime.

I have to agree with Injun on this one, it really is a personal choice. Now, I use a lot of Okuma reels, the Epixor which comes with baitfeed options and the Alumina. They have all performed very well for me both in fresh and salt water. These are available from Bass Pro and Cabelas aso check where else you buy fishing equipment.

I have been using the Okuma reels for a long time and I love them and had no problems with them. They are well built and great for the price.
