Wash them very well and prick the skins all over. Wrap them in aluminum foil with a little butter or olive oil and cook at very high heat (about 450- 500 F). Yes, I know that is technically steaming them, but I like to eat the skin and it gets hard and dry if you don't bake them in foil. It will take at least 45 minutes to an hour depending on the size of the potatoes. Squeeze gently (using a potholder so you don't burn yourself) towards the end to see if they are done. They will give to the pressure and you won't feel any hardness in the center when they are done.

Usually at 350 for about an hour but it depends on the size of the potatoes. Test by pricking with a fork or sharp knife to test for doneness and increase time accordingly. You can also stick a clean aluminum nail into the center of each potato to conduct the heat into the potato and speed up cooking if you are not concerned about the aluminum issue and cooking.

pre-heat ur oven at 350F for at least an hour...stick knife through to see if tender on the inside
to step it up a notch...once the baked potatoe is done..let cool for a few minutes..then slice off top of potato lengthwise....carefully use a small spoon and scoop out the potato..putting it into a bowl..leaving the skin on the potato in tact. To the bowl of the steaming hot potatoe add a touch of salt and pepper, grate some cheese, and finely sliced green onion...mix carefully then add back to the baked potatoe and put them back in the oven for another 15-20min while cheese melts*~ = twice stuffed baked potatoes* Just spices things up a bit* tastes sooo good too~*

I nuke em in the microwave , depending on the size of potato. I just hit the baked potato button.

But in an oven or toaster oven, a medium potato, split with small cross cut and wrapped in foil, about 45-60 minutes at 350.

It will depend on how big your potatoes are, but it's much quicker if you poke the potato with a fork and microwave it for five minutes.
Then put the potato in the oven on about 180 C for about 30 mins or until you can poke a knife in easily.

400 for about an hour or until a fork goes in easy. Try brushing them with oil before baking, It will make the skin a bit crispy.

About an hour at 350. Don't wrap them in foil, though. That steams them and you want them baked.
