We have the exact same concept of sin.
The first thing that someone should be considering is whether the idea of sin is actually real.
If God is supposed to be perfect how could She have made anything or anyone that wasn't perfect.
Think about it. The idea of sin assumes certain things about God that seem highly unlikely.
First it assumes a God who is too incompetent to organize a simple educational field excursion and figure out a way to get all of the students home safely.
How likely is this that God would not be smart enough to come up with a plan for our salvation that is going to work 100 percent of the time?
It also assumes that God must have created us imperfect if we are sinners.
One might assume that God would be able to create someone perfect each and every time if he chose to. Assuming God is capable of this, then it follows logically that we must be perfect creations if we are actually creations of this perfect God.
Unless of course you are saying that God chose to create us imperfect.
If God created us imperfect then anything that may go wrong is Gods fault, not ours. This seems a bit illogical at best so I think that we need to assume that What God creates would have to be perfect.
If this is the case and Gods creations are perfect, then nothing that we can do could change what God created perfect and make it imperfect unless we think that we are more powerful than God is.
How likely is it that we the creation could be more powerful than the creator. I personally find this idea somewhat amusing, and a bit absurd.
Religion tells us that God is perfect. If this is true then it could hardly be logically for Gods creations to be considered to be anything less than perfect.
If this is the case and we are perfect creations of a perfect God then Nothing that we can ever do could possibly change this perfection that God willed, unless we were so powerful that our choices could override and change the will of God.
How likely is that????
Think about it.

I don't think I can really come up with a less than traditional concept. If the concept came from our maker - how is it we can change it's meaning? The concept of sin is very old, going back to the beginning of man's existence. If you want to change it, fine, but there will always be something that replaces it. It is falling short, missing the mark, not measuring up, disobedience or pride. The list continues.
I think sin makes us feel guilt. As it did in the beginning. Separate and alone may come under that. I'd ask why are you separate and alone? If you're connection is with the earth, why alone? What does the earth do to cause that? Obviously I do not believe as you do. Sin, to me results in separation from God. Perhaps in your belief system you need a new concept describing what you feel.

newdude9…is technically correct.
If you aim for truth(the target) and miss, then your arrow has come to the wrong conclusion. If one still believes the arrow has hit the target, when in fact it missed, then that is the sin.... to believe that the wrong conclusion is the right one is the sin. Does this make sense? It is not the same thing as a violation, although holding false beliefs to be true can lead to all sorts of self-created
suffering and violations toward others.
-----a good example is, when someone answers correctly we say, 'Bulls-eye', so if someone answers incorrectly, they have missed the mark.

Sin is any action, attitude, belief or behavior contrary to what is pure goodness. The conundrum, however, is that we are not here to be the judges of which thing (in the above) is not of pure goodness. Only He judges. And then He let's us know. While in our bodies, we have this antennae called a conscious that help our souls understand how He feels about what we have done, said, thought, etc.
Just one way to look at it.

That's a nice thought, but a think you have a slighty skewed view of what humans really are. We are more like viruses. We multiply, consume all the resources we can, and move on to do it again somewhere else. The exceptions to this were the cultures of old, long since taken over by more powerful nations.

Yes you are right if you do true research and not ask for all kinds of peoples opinions, the original word meant to miss the target or to miss the point, I think originally from ancient Greek language, so by the original meaning of the word, you are exactly right.

Sin is not taking God at His word. Everything else is an outcome or symptom of unbelief.

Sin is: Missing the mark of perfection.
Who decides what is a sin? God.
Can we say whether or not someone has sinned? If the Bible (inspired of God) says something is a sin, then yes.

Sin is failure to do that which you know you should do.
Sin is the action of wrong-doing.
we are not "one" with everything else. We are made a little lower than the angels. Then animals are lower than us. We ALL are guilty of sin. That's why we need God's love and forgiveness. God is love.
