i was curious, i have been having nonstop pain in my right wrist the last 3 weeks and over time it has gradually stretched a couple inches above my elbow. the pain is off and on, sometimes it hurts to the point where its unbearable aches and cramping and sometimes its just a soft pain that i can ignore. i broke my wrist when i was in first grade, 10 years ago and i figure maybe that has to do with it. i have had pain like this before but nothing that lasted this long. normally just a day or two but now that it hasnt stopped im gettin concerned. any suggestions of what may be wrong?

Carpal tunnel syndrome is usually caused by a repetitive injury, repeated overuse of one or both hands. Carpal tunnel usually causes some numbness of the affected wrist/hand, especially at night. The more you use the hand, the more trouble it will give you. The pain and numbness of carpal tunnel usually affects the thumb, forefinger, middle finger, and sometimes a portion of the ring finger, but not the outer edge of ring finger or the pinkie. Wrist and forearm may also be painful. Acute short term attacks can be treated with steroids, but long term problems are usually alleviated by simple surgery.

I was misdiagnosed with carpal tunnel so I have an idea of what carpal tunnel is from the doctor's examining my wrist.
Carpal tunnel is when you do a continuing motion bending at the wrist which cuts off the blood supply and the hand gets the tingles and then pain. The doc said that it would affect all fingers except the thumb. The doc gave me kind of a soft cast to keep on my hand that protected the wrist from bending. I found that changing from a mouse to a "ball" mouse helped solve the problem so you might want to try that. I also found that instead of reaching up on the keyboard have your hand lifted and your fingers reaching down to the keyboard and those two things halted the pain for me. Also try not using the net that often or taking breaks more frequently.

I am not a Dr. I just pretend to be one on T.V. lol
In all seriousness, It could be your past injury, carpal tunnel or it could be a nerve in your shoulder that is sending pain down your arm. See a Dr.

could be carpal tunnel..could be tendonitis..or even the beginning of arthritis..because of the break..however...a DOCTOR should tell you..not me on the internet...I get tendonitis in both wrists and the pain can be awful..let your doctor help you...could be that wearing simple wrist braces at night will do the trick..they do for me...
