You can do this at all the islands. Oahu is busy, but you can stay at a nice hotel in Waikiki and just get as much relaxation with more to do, such as nice restuarants and tons of bars. Go to Pearl Harbor for sure, its a part of our history. To the person above who said, "Pearl Harbor is not special anymore", you have some serious issues. As long as our flag stands and we have Soldiers wearing the uniform, Pearl Harbor will always be special.

If you want to visit Pearl Harbor, you would have to be on Oahu.
If you're not interested in sightseeing, I would suggest you either go to Kauai (as that island is very laid back and beautiful without the touristy types of stuff to do) or get a rental place on the windward side of Oahu and just hang out with your husband.
Have a great vacation!

I would suggest Kauai but since you're interested in seeing Pearl harbor you would have to go to Oahu. On Oahu you can try the Ihilani hotel or Turtle Bay. You can just relax on the beach and take in all the island's beauty.

Each of the Hawaiian Islands has its own personality and character. So, knowing what type of person you are and what you like to do will help you decide which of the islands you will like.
If you like tourists and fishing you should like the Kona area of the “Big Island” of Hawaii.
If you like solitude, a tropical feel, a rural atmosphere and you don’t mind rain, you should like the Hilo area of the Big Island. The west side of the Big Island has a few nice small beaches, including black sand beaches. Near Ka Lae, the southernmost point of the island you will find a green sand beach. Big beaches are not prevalent on the Big Island.
If you enjoy scenery, hiking, snorkeling, kayaking or surfing and don’t yearn for “night life”
then the oldest of the islands, Kauai is for you.
If you are the kind of person who keep a bathing suit, snorkel gear or a surfboard in your car, then Maui is for you, because it has 120 miles of easily accessible and swimmable coastline, more than any other island.
If you have an artistic temperament or perhaps you like to get away and write, then seek out the island of Lanai.
If you love nature, hiking and solitude, then “the most Hawaiian” of the islands, Molokai is for you.
You’ll enjoy Oahu if you like beaches, shopping, tourists, high-rises, traffic and don’t mind a lot of other people. Honolulu is like a tropical version of NYC, or LA as it was in the smog-free 1950's.

Why don't you go to Pearl Harbor first for the day or couple hours and fly out to Lana'i for romance and relaxation.

Kauai is the most relaxing place... It's easy to get to from Oahu, where Pearl Harbor is and most flights from the mainland come in.

If you don't care about sightseeing, why bother coming here? You can hole up in a hotel room with your husband anywhere! Save the airfare and go somewhere close to home. If you're dead set on coming here, go to either Lanai or Molokai. The islands are beautiful but there isn't much to see on either one (except the leper colony on Molokai) in terms of tourist attactions.

I agree with taraloha - Why go at all if you're not going to take the time to enjoy all that Hawaii has to offer. It is, after all, one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Your better off going to MAUI for relaxation & romance. Pearl Harbor is nothing special anymore. Plus, the island of O'ahu is played out....nothing but sightseeing, a huge army of tourist & seriously bad traffic. Trust me on this.....go to Maui for a better experience.
