I would assume that it would get you high if you WEREN'T in pain but since you are, it doesn't. It goes to the pain and relieves it, or attempts to.

Funny you ask. I had a root canal and was given Vicodin for pain. I asked Dr. if it would make "me out of it". He said for some reason it does that to men, but not for women and even he didn't know why.And everyone is differen when it comes to how the brain responds to medication.

People have different body chemistries that interact differently with different chemicals.
Vicodin did nothing for me. Didn't help my pain at all (or give me a buzz of any kind).

I agree with Jaztastic. Because you are in pain, the drug does what it's supposed to do, relieve pain. If you're not in pain, the Vicodin messes with the pain receptors in your brain, giving you that numb, tingly euphoric feeling.

Sometimes that happens where some people just won't get relief from certain pain medications or medications in general, try asking your Dr. for something different or even try a stronger dose!

People respond to medicines differently. Depending on your pain threshold, it might not be strong enough to ease the pain you may be experiencing.
