They believe what they are told to believe.
If you don't God roasts you in a lake of fire for eternity.
He does this because He loves us.
Don't you know anything?

Proof is provided by the Holy Spirit. If you do not have the Spirit, you lack spiritual discernment and therefore lack the ability to make the determination. You should not believe everything you read, hear or even see. Born again believers know the Bible is true, without ever meeting any Bible character in person, as stated above. The solid proof is given by the Holy Spirit when you repent and turn your life over to God. You could pray that God will open your eyes, but approaching him with an unwillingness to at least consider repenting will yield nothing. Amen.

Tradition and church elders have selected which texts became canonized in the bible. It wasn't a random sampling of writings from unknown writers. Every text in the bible points to the nature of the Christian God.
That said, you're right that there's no proof that it was inspired by God. Christians are like any other group of people, there are smart ones and there are naive ones. There are some Christians that will fight to the death to attempt to convince you that God wrote every word and you have to believe it just as much as they do.
Did God ask you to ask this question? If God did, I will consider it holy.

You also believe in unknown men through your science which no one can say is the truth.
At least in the Bible, Jesus says I am the way, the TRUTH, and the life.
So, I believe in my unknown men who at least were inspired by a God who says He is the Truth. A new unknown man can come at anytime to say, "oh what the previous guy said is null and void" The Bible has yet to be disproven.
Hope this helps.

Many people say those who wrote the Medical Books were inspired by science...
They teach others to "PRACTICE" medicine
With that said...
Would you believe the doctor if he showed you in those books and told you that they found there was a problem with your heart and you needed an operation "NOW" or you will die!?
Would life mean so much to you that you would believe him and have it done?
OR-
Would you go home and say I don't like what those books say, I don't believe those books, how do I know under what conditions those books were written in?
YES..I would believe you if you said God inspired you to ask this question, God uses many things to get His truth out, and your question has helped to do that.
GOD BLESS.

There is proof of the divine authorship of the Bible. Fulfilled prophecy is that proof. If you have a Bible, read Isaiah 45:1-6. There God names the very person whom He would use to free the Israelites from captivity in Babylon before Cyrus was even born.
Writing by Isaiah was completed by about 732 B.C.E. The Jews were not taken into exile to Babylon until 617-607 B.C.E., and Jerusalem and its temple were not destroyed until 607 B.C.E. In detail the prophecy was fulfilled starting in 539 B.C.E. Cyrus diverted the waters of the Euphrates River into an artificial lake, the river gates of Babylon were carelessly left open during feasting in the city, and Babylon fell to the Medes and Persians under Cyrus. Thereafter, Cyrus liberated the Jewish exiles and sent them back to Jerusalem with instructions to rebuild Jehovah’s temple there.
This is just one of hundreds of prophecies found in the Old Testament that were fulfilled. This proves that God is the author of the Bible. And to clarify, it isn't unknown who wrote the books of the Old Testament. And their circustances aren't unknown either. If you want me to provide you with a list of the Bible writers and the circumstances they lived under, I'd be happy to do so. I've got one right here...
Don't spout off information without something to back it up.

Think about the odds. Fifty + people, in multiple countries, in different languages, compile prophecies, teachings, etc. that all have the same viewpoint, not conflicting on anything. What are the chances? From someone writing in jail, to a rich landowner, what are the chances?
Also, those issues are of today as well. Theres even quotes quotes about masturbating, gay marriage, standing for your rights, etc.
Prophecies. Prophecies. Prophecies. Guess how many prophecies have been fullfilled, all written by people from DIFFERENT NATIONS and DIFFERENT LANGUAGES from DIFFERENT BACKGROUNDS. The only prophecies left to come are from Revelation.
What are the chances, you ask a democrat, a republican, an illegal immigrant, an eskimo, an asian, and an african american do PROPHESY the future, write answers of today and the future's problems, etc. and come up with the same answer?
Yeh.

There you have it. There is no proof. They picked and chose from the 30 or so gospels that were available at the time. Why didn't they pick anything from the gospel of Judas or Mary.
They wrote gospels too you know. Science has proven this, religion denys it.
Hey Blondie Baptist. I can prove god didn't write the bible and Chris, evolution has also been proven. Have you two had your head in the sand for the last 10 yrs?

When in the new testament it says the Gospel according to Mark. who do you think wrote it? Mark of course. The gospel according to Matthew was written by Matthew.
In the old testament it where the Jewish pharisees who were educated enough to write who recorded the events of God's people.
There are MANY books that are cut out of the protestant bible which were seen "uneccecary" and the same goes for the catholic bible. There are many scriptures that lies in the Vatican that are not included into the bible for political reasons.

I offer proof. Some people don't want to acknowledge it, though.
The bible gives evidence of it's inspiration not only by fulfilled prophecy, but by giving information that was impossible to know at the time it was written, such as the water cycle, the earth being round, etc...

I believe that YOU were inspired to ask this question, Orion, which I find to be an inspired question, but that's just me. I don't have a good answer to your question because you're right, I can't argue with your logic.
