I have a very tiny hole in my back tooth on the right side will they be able to do a filling or is it big enough where they are going to have to do a root canal? I probably have a few cavities but none are noticeable except one right now. Just trying to figure how much it may cost.

OKALIE,

I'VE REPAIRED MANY VERY SMALL CAVITIES W/O SHOTS OR EVEN SHOTS OF ANESTHETIC BY USING AIR ABRASION TO LITERALLY BRUSH AWAY THE DECAY OF THE CAVITY WITH A PAINLESS STREAM OF SAND. THIS PROCESS ISA PAINLESS AND QUICK.
UNLESS YOU REPAIR THIS SMALL HOLE IT WILL LEAD TO A BIGGER CAVITY WHERE DRILLING AND SHOTS MAY BE UNAVOIDABLE.

If you do not get the filling - the cavity can become much larger... if it reaches the root - the dentist will have no other choice but to do a root canal... and then you will have to get a crown on that tooth after that.

If you are interested in how much you will have to spend... These are rough estimates:
Fillings cost around $200 (it can be less, or more).
Root Canals and Crowns start around $700 EACH.
