Great Question... I'd like to give 2 different points of views... It will not answer your question, but at least you can judge for yourself...

1. Music is very, very powerful... It makes our emoitions flow... It has the power to change your thoughts and feelings... Even without words~ Classical pieces often had titles like "The Devil's Wall" or something of the sort... Why else would the composer of the songs name these pieces the way they did... Their emotions at the time, caused them to write this piece... Or whichever way you want to look at it... So, the secular music could be seen as bad...

2. Music is music... As long as the words don't say "kill your mom" or anything negative like that, you're good. Christian rock is ok because it refers to God... a positive message.

Ok, do not get too mad at me. Personally, I don't much like Christian Rock. Don't get me wrong, I've been a Christian for many years, and I love God with all my heart, but I think the whole style of today's Christian Rock, for the most part, is pretty bland. I do like the idea of discipleship through music. However, I think that, if every single idea of every single song is clearly and obviously about God, many people will ignore that music. I think there is a better strategy in making music that can have a focus on God through interpretation. That way, you can build a fanbase, and then show them how a popular song is really about the power of God. Take the band "The Fray" for example. From what I've heard, these guys are Christians, and their music has Christian themes, but it's not completely obvious, and you have to think about the song to discover the connection. Needless to say, they are one of the most popular bands in the United States right now. Just a long-winded thought.

This lie started when some brilliant so-called preachers were too lazy & not bold enough to actually tell young Christians what the really bad sins were, and instead decided to tell them rock music was bad because that was an easy way out.....to demonize a type of music. No, listening to rock music is not a sin; all music really is for most is an expression of their feelings, which is a good thing to do! Also, it's the devil working trying to drive young folks away from Christianity by making it nothing more than a list of things that are "bad" & "things you aren't supposed to do". Christianity sets you free; it doesn't put you into bondage! Now, if the lyrics say something like, "Praise Satan", or the lyrics tell you to do bad things, then of course, common sense tells you that you shouldn't listen to that.~~God bless!~~

Christian rock does not make Christianity better, but rather makes rock worse.

I don't think so. The church I go to is pretty modern (non-denomenational)...we have "rock band" complete with guitars and drums. I remember before the pastor did a sermon money one sunday the band played "money" by pink floyd...minus the lines with the cursing. It was completely relevant to the sermon.

In today's world if you want to reach younger people you sometimes have to do it in unconventional ways. Rock music envelopes us and in order to survive you have to learn how to adapt. It is important to embrace it in an appropriate way, which is what christian rock does.

It is not bad as long as it is in praise/worship to God.
I know many people who think Norma Jean can't be Christian....or Family Force 5. It's not about the sound it is in the lyrics.

There is nothing wrong with the concept.

But the current world of christian rock is pretty lame. Most of it lacks depth and passion.

I like a variety of music, and christian rock is pretty good. I like Disciple and Seventh Day Slumber and many more. It just depends on what you like.

No... Christian rock is all about worshipping God, and giving him praise. Nothing bad!
