There are some people that live down the street from me, and have 9 dogs, and 3 cats, and my dog had puppies, and they want one. I feel like I should not let them have another one because I feel like enough is enough, they need to concentrate on taking care of there 2 kids first. I mean they have sent their kids to my house to ask for food, because they don't have anything to eat, but they keep getting more pets, am I wrong about this?

It depends on the city. Some have regulations and the number varies. Some have no regulations at all as long as the animals are well cared for. Honestly, in my opinion some people can care for that many animals easily and some should not be allowed to have one. I never go on numbers when deciding if someone is qualified to care for an animal. That said, the puppies are yours to give/sell to anyone you like so feel free to say no to ANYONE you feel isn't good enough for them. I don't think I'd be comfortable letting them have one either.

BTW If it is true about the kids, you really should call social services. It sucks but those kids need better care. Also, call animal control and let them know these people need some help. Animal hoarding is a psychological condition and horders can be very very aggressive when confronted. Don't get any more involved than making the phone calls.

If it were me I wouldn't sell/give them one of my dogs puppies. It is your choice who your puppies go to. Just tell them you want your puppies to be in single dog homes... As for the law about how many pets you can own, if it is a house and they are all fairly well cared for there is not much that can be done.....

NO I would not feel comfortable sending a puppy to basically a hoarder. Go w/ your gut...if they can't afford basically bread for her children what makes you think that they can afford quality dog food and vet care when needed. Though they may be loving people...I do not think you would want your dog living in such conditions. Chances are with 9 dogs (WOW) there would often even be dogfights...its up to you but I strongly discourage it!

You have a responsibility to your puppies to make sure they go to suitable homes. How would you feel at a later date if you found out the puppy you gave them died of distemper or parvo because they couldn't afford to vaccinate it? I don't think you need to feel bad at all for not giving them one. Just tell them that you want your pups to go to homes where there are not so many pets so that your puppies get more individual attention...That should cover your basis pretty broadly...

Check into your local town's bylaws in Ontario Canada each town, city have bylaws that say how many pets (usually dogs) you may keep at one time.

If the concern is for the animals you could also contact the local Animal Shelter and for the children call DFS

Check your city codes. My city states that non-breeders and non-rescue groups can only have 4 dogs and/or cats at a time.

Frankly, I can't believe that you would even consider giving them another animal. Please, spay & neuter your pets. A good breeder wouldn't even think about this.

No you are definitely right. They seem to be taking better care of the pets, then their kids.

Absolutely not!!! Call animal control, and be sure to call your local Child Protective Services. They need to have both their kids and their animals taken away.

No limit.

Unless your landloard says so.

They own their home then have a free right to own as many as they wish to handle.
