There's a lady who lives down the road from me that always has about 15 cats in her yard. They're not spayed or neutered and they keep comming in my yard and walking on my car. Now my car has scratches on the hood that won't come out. I have trapped several with my cat trap but no matter how many times I move it around they've gotten smart and won't go in it anymore. I've tried everything else. I've even tried to talk to her but she says her cats don't leave the yard and of course she's lying. How can I make her understand that by having all those cats that she's imposing them on everyone in the neighborhood. I'm also worried because I have a very small dog that I take excellent care of, but he had a dog door and even though when he goes outside he's in a fence those nasty cats can climb fences and I don't want him to get scratched and get some kind of disease. I'm at the end of my rope. I hate cats because I think they're discusting animals and I don't want them in my yard.

I Just Gotta Say That Animals Are Humans With A Different Language And Religions And Different Looks Like Black And White. ALL Animals..Including Cats. Cats Are Actually The Cleanest Animals. But I guess You Can Call Someone Or Even Get The Animal Shelter Involved And Get A Tape And Tape You're Neighbors Cats On You're Car. Then Show It To The Shelter. They'll Get More Involved From Then On.

Well of course the cats are just being cats. I like both cats and dogs so hopefully I can give you an unbiased view.

You could call the local humane society. Or perhaps show her the scratches on your car and mention you will have to call the local humane society if she does not take better care of her cats. There may even be a limit as to how many cats you are allowed in your area (check your zoning laws). I hate to play devil's advocate in this case because I do love cats and understand people who love them, but I am also sympathetic to your wish to have your property left alone.

Please don't harm the cats. They are just being cats, and it is your neighbor that is not being a responsible owner. Cats that are left outside run the risk of catching diseases, cat fights, and being hit by cars so I would hope she will fence her yard or something so they don't wander.

First thing you should do is call the "Dog Catcher". This may mean a call to your township building and they will call the dog catcher. Your neighbor lady may have to pay the Dog Catcher fee unless your township picks up the bill.

I would recommend that you continue to "trap" the cats in your yard by using a "Have-a-Heart" trap. Place a can of tuna, or cat food deep inside the trap. Be Patient, they will get hungry (or stupid) and enter for a bite of food. The right thing to do would be to take the trapped cats to your local Humane Society - there will probably be a fee for each cat though. We have trapped a few cats in our yard and just taken them 10-15 miles away (and over a creek) and dropped them off.

I am with ya on this one cuz I HATE when feral cats poop in my flower beds, that drives me nuts! Besides, the cats will continue to reproduce and when that happens, you'll have a much bigger mess on your hands.

GOOD LUCK!

Like others have said, call animal control. Another thing you can do is whenever you see them in your yard, spray them with water with a hose and an attachment. My dad did this for a little while and they ended up not wanting to come in his yard anymore. Also, let the owner know what they've done to your car and to keep them in her yard, or else you'll take her to small claims for damage (just make sure you take pictures of them doing it). If nothing comes of your efforts, get a car cover and cover it up at night. Don't kill the cats, its not their fault that they have a horrible owner.

I agree with some of the other answers. You said you have tried to talk to her and got nowhere so you have no choice but to call animal control or aspca. She needs help and it is ot fair to those cats to be allowed to run around and continue to breed. Once you call them they will make her get her cats fixed and tell her that she can only keep the number allowed in your county. In ours it is 5. They will also make her get them all checked by a vet to be sure they do not have any diseases and get vaccinations against diseases. They will also begin to monitor her and the number of animals she has as she seems to be hording cats. Good luck and I hope this helps.

I bet it smells real nice in her yard to-Gross! Anyway I know how you feel. We had two stray cats that would always get on our vehicles. So my husband had a tool box on the back of his truck that we left open and put a can of tuna in it. He had a rope attached to the top of the tool box and sat in his truck and waited for them. When they got in the tool box for the tuna, he pulled the rope and it shut the tool box. We took them into town(about 15 minutes away)and needless to say we never had any problems out of them again. Another thing that you can do is get some red pepper and put all in your yard-the only problem with that is you would have to not let your dog get around it.

Dusty - you have no choice - report her to the local animal control authorities. In Sydney it is illegal to let a cat out after dark to pretect the native wildlife.
This person doesnt deserve pets if she will not take responsibility for them.
For the record I have 2 cats as well as 2 dogs - I love my dogs and I barely tolerate my wife's cats. If an animal could be described as arrogant then that is what I would describe cats as ...

Call the local animal control office, and be careful of trapping cats. In some states it's illegal.... But if you have cats in your yard not yours, and they're not tagged, let animal control trap them all, then when kitties don't come home to mummy that night, your neighbor may have some second thoughts about letting her cats roam the neighborhood.

Cats should never be allowed to roam outdoors, they are destructive to the environment, kill indigenous wildlife, and can get all kinds of horrid cat diseases not to mention pregnant. And, apparently, leave scratches in car hoods!

properly, from journey, cats do in comparison to different cats (in the event that they weren't raised mutually). It has not something to do with their intercourse. they are very territorial, which ability, whilst your cat sees the neighbours' cat she feels a danger to her territory. in case you had positioned your cat and your neighbour's cat mutually they might have began an somewhat nasty combat. first of all, do not puppy the different cat, in any different case your cat will know and be unfavourable in the direction of you. 2d, those 2 cats will possibly provide up growling at one yet another sooner or later yet there is truly not something you're able to do with it. the sole factor you're able to do is to make confident those 2 will in no way meet or see one yet another. try conversing with your neighbour approximately it and probably you are able to paintings some thing out mutually. good success!
