I have long, blonde hair, and everyone loves it, especially my parents, (and me!). But everyone also asks me if I'm going to do locks of love. I don't want to, but everyone says i should, and a lot of my friends did it, so maybe i do want to...

Help me!

No - you shouldn't feel pressured into donating your hair. Keep it in good shape & donate it when you feel like you want to cut it short.

I want to do that sometime... it goes towards wigs and stuff that are going to be used for people that dont have any hair. My hair is colored so I really cant right now and its long and I'm not ready for it to be short yet but I do plan on doing it. I get a new style plus I'm helping someone. They need atleast 10 inches of hair, and the hair cant be colored. We've done some people at the salon I work at. I think you might also get a certificate or something for helping out by donating hair... I'm not quite sure about that though.

Please do NOT donate your hair to "Locks of Love". They are a complete scam ! Check out give.org's take on them:
http://www.give.org/reports/care2_dyn.asp?733

Locks of love made only 113 wigs in an entire year, they SELL the majority of the hair received (for extensions) and they do not allow for independent auditing of their financial records. Who knows where the money from selling hair really goes to, somebody's pocket perhaps ?

A lot of hair doesn't even make it Locks of Love, type in "human hair ponytail" on EBay and look at all those listings. That hair is being sold to hair fetishists.

If you don't mind your hair ending up on Paris Hilton's back or sold to a pervert though ....... go ahead and "donate"

Well - do you want to or not? No one can answer this question for you.

Locks of Love is a charity where they provide hairpieces for children who lost their hair due to medical reasons (typically cancer)

To send you hair there are guidelines - it cannot have been colored or permed and must be a minimum of 10" long and be in a braid or ponytail. There are many salons that will cut your hair for Locks of Love and give you a new cut and style for free.

definite! they do spectacular artwork. many chain salons artwork with them or different such companies to make the donation ordinary. why is somebody giving each and every physique a thumbs down? from the locks of affection website: Q. How do you sponsor a Locks of affection baby? A. $a million,000 sponsors a Locks of affection baby. This pays for the entire value of offering one cranial prosthesis Q. What do the toddlers pay for those hairpieces? A. we grant hairpieces and upkeep freed from charge or on a sliding scale based on the economic choose of those in charge for the toddlers. Q. what's the retail value of the hairpieces? A. between $3,500 and $6,000. so... possibly the merchandising of the surplus hair offsets the fees of generating the hair products.

Think about what your hair would look like after you cut (however many inches necessary) off. if you will be miserable without it,i wouldnt. Even though it is a great cause don't do it if you really don't want to. Your friends might be at a different place in their lives than you are.

If you don't want to donate, don't. Simple as that, however there are plenty of people out there not fortunate enough to have long beautiful hair like yours. Consider this: when you're ready for a shorter cut, cut off 10inches and donate, but only when you're ready!

If you have beautiful hair why not give it to some little girl who has cancer. If you want (this is what I'm doing) grow it out until it reaches waist length. Then they can cut of 10'' and you can still have long hair!
BEST of LUCK

Just look in the mirror. Know yourself and what will look good on someone else may not look good on you. Trendy! Help yourself, love yourself.
