I'm pretty sure of only one thing: in about 5,000 years some group of archeologists will dig up our civilization. They will laugh at our lack of knowledge just as much as we laugh now at those people, long ago, who believed the earth was flat.
You're right. We hardly know anything, all we can do is make guesses. It always makes me smile to see somebody who claims to have all the answers.

1) I've never claimed absolute certainty about anything. That would be absurd.
2) Okay. So maybe I don't know. That doesn't mean that I can't examine the evidence and draw conclusions and feel pretty comfortable with the conclusions.
3) Everybody has just one way of looking at things. I don't know what point you're trying to make here, but whatever it was, you missed.
4) Which points?

I believe we should all be open minded and none of us has all the answers but I think that is good because that is how we grow and interact and try to get along with each other. There is the old saying "All roads lead to Rome." So there may be various different routes to arrive at something but we all eventually arrive at an impasse. That is also why we should respect people's and at least have respect for their ideas but we do not have to agree with their methods but it may be right with them and I will respect the idea and the person and overlook personal biases.

I agree with that. The most liberating thing I have ever done was to admit to myself that I had doubts. I haven't looked back since. Being completely sure of everything is too heavy a burden for little ole' me.

Of course many are simply expressing their own way of looking at things...me included.
While I do feel ' very sure ' of the essence of Spirituality and the One . . . on some other issues I'll raise my hand here in acknowledgment that I " don't claim to be sure " at times on this site. I'm simply sharing my thought.
Maybe Yahoo Answers should change it's name to " Yahoo Thoughts " . . . " Yahoo Just My Opinion " . . .

I like to try to keep as open minded as possible. It's true nobody knows for sure one way or the other. Everybody is going based on their sets of ideas as to what everything is about.

I try to keep an open mind as much as possible. I know that I don't know everything. In fact, I know very little. I can't even say for sure that my religion, which is very dear to me, is absolutely true, but I know that it works for me, and is at least as true as other religions. Or at least I think so!

Honey, those who claim certainty have no faith.
I have my doubts. Most days I think I must be a lunatic. I have a contract with my best friend. The day I start being certain is the day she has me committed.
I believe with my whole heart that God is there. And that he loves me. I hear his voice. Which must be lunacy. Don't you think?

I am sure we are all looking for the same thing even if we don't admit it.
