I lack belief and faith. And no, I don't hate Christians. Do you really want to know why I dislike faith so much?
I find faith to be detrimental and totally without redeeming value. Faith is not a valid epistemological procedure and should not be regarded as a trustworthy method of ascertaining the truth value in any claim or concept. Faith allows for dogmatic certainty in the absence of and sometimes in spite of justification and reason.
Tell me... in the context of human-caused atrocities, what is it that takes extremism and irrationality, nurtures them, enables them, creates an environment in which they can flourish and strengthen, so much so that these dangerous attributes are primed to pose a much more significant threat, to influence us to be much more capable of and likely to commit horrible crimes against humanity? Is it reason, rationality and logic to blame, or is it that thing which allows dogmatic certainty in their absence?
Faith is nothing more than baseless conviction. Faith is what fuels the fire of religious conflict. Faith is a killer.

For just about have of the people who answered this question It sounds to me like you got your, Faith in Lack of Faith, from a text book, but if you really look deep the scientific "fact" are no where near rock solid The fossil record for instance you say "well that proves Evolution right there but closely examined, there's more gaps in that thing then there is in NFL regulation goalposts.
The dinosaurs, well if you crack open a bible you know that it rained for forty days and nights on a man named Noah's head, well where did all that rain come from It was in the atmosphere and now check your "science" books what would that do, If there where all that water in the atmosphere. It would create an enviorment in which the life span of humans, as was recorded in the bible, and most likely animals too, would be increased!
Thous are just tidbits from a great book called The Case for a Creator proving through science that God or at least a Creator of some sort. Also it was written by an atheist.
As a final remark I'm sorry if you feel that christens are pushy but if you thought you could save some ones life, wouldn't you try? Any way you can't judge all Christians by the few that you've meet, that's like judging all Americans by Gorge Bush.

I don't know that I bash Christians or other forms of "believers" I just don't understand it. Comparing a belief in something that bears no proof of existence and not believing in the same "being" is not the same thing. Atheists simply don't believe in something that is illogical and has no basis for proof or even evidence to suggest the existence of a god. It doesn't take faith to not believe in something. What would take faith would be if there were convincing evidence and we still chose to not believe.
Note from Chanteuse's reply -- Actually evolution is based on fact -- or more accurately a series of facts. These facts have correlations which suggest that evolution is correct and because they don't PROVE it's correct we call it a theory. The error in logic isn't that Evolution is based on fact; the error is that Atheism and Darwinists (or Evolutionists) are the same thing. Many people who believe in a personal god (or gods for that matter) also believe in evolution. You can't divide the creation/evolution by believers and non-believers.

No...we atheist just do not believe in your silly god fantasy. It takes no faith what so ever to not believe, because you all have no credible objective evidence to back up your claims that he exists. Get it?
We dont hate you christians. Some of us think you incredibly stupid, but that doesn't make us haters.
Now the next time you say atheists have faith and hate you christians you will be lying since you have been shown that you are wrong.

I don't have faith that there isn't a god. I know from the evidence that there is no god. I bash on Christians because several years ago, there was a group of born again christians in my neighborhood trying to spread the faith. I kept turning them away and one day they all beat the crap out of me. I was in a coma for two days and had several broken bones. What's worse, the prosecutor handling the case screwed up and forgot to forward evidence to the defense. They got off and praised god for their deliverance and didn't show the slightest bit of remorse. If god exists, then he's a bid jerk. You're a christian, and I'm trying really hard to keep my anger bottled up. Sometimes it helps to vent the preasure.

people will always be blatantly ignorant... no matter what religion, race, creed, or nationality... the world will be filled with ignorance... just like not all of us Christians are brainwashed hypocrites, not all atheists bash Christians. There will always be the few ignorant individuals that open up their mouths and spew their poison and make the rest of their particular group look bad. That's just the way it is.
P.S. Skeptic... evolution is based on THEORY, not fact. That would be why it's called the theory of evolution. Know what you're talking about before you speak... (see above)

Marie O: The only one here BrainWashed is you. How often is it on television, newspaper etc about religious people being brainwashed?! Not ONCE have I EVER heard about ATHIESTS being BRAINWASHED
Now for your question hun... I do not hate Christians.. I hate the fact that most (not all) on here continually force their BS down our throats without respecting what we believe in.
Do you all think that we come here without knowing anything? Of course not! We are certainly not going to convert because of what Christians say to us here. If anything you further make us happy that we are athiests!!

Why do you generalize and assume all athiests had all Christians? I am more agnostic than atheist, but either way I wouldn't bash anyone based on their religion. To each his or her own, I respect your choice to believe what you do. There is much dislike and tension both ways but not everyone from every category... please don't generalize, it only fuels what hatred does exist.

I do not have FAITH there is no god. Faith is believing without evidence. I simply live by a negative claim until the positive claim - there is a God - has evidence!
By your logic, you have FAITH that there are no unicorns, mermaids, dragons, etc.

First of all, not very many atheists hate xians. Secondly, atheists don't exactly bash christians, it's more of telling what they believe in and why. Christians however try to convert atheists and press their beliefs onto atheists, and this can get very, very annoying. And they bash atheists too...
Also, Atheism isn't a religion. It's the lack of one.
