Most adults in the world believe in God.
This has always been the case all through the history of the world.
Religions of the World
"Christians 33.03% (of which Roman Catholics 17.33%, Protestants 5.8%, Orthodox 3.42%, Anglicans 1.23%), Muslims 20.12%, Hindus 13.34%, Buddhists 5.89%, Sikhs 0.39%, Jews 0.23%, other religions 12.61%, non-religious 12.03%, atheists 2.36% (2004 est.)" - CIA World Fact Book
Psalm 14: 1
The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.

A recent Newsweek poll claims that 90% of the world believes in some sort of God.
Does this mean 90% of the world believes in an all-powerful old man with a long grey beard sitting in the clouds presides over the universe in which he created?
Probably not.
The REAL question to ask should be "What is your definition of God?"
Einstein believed in God. But his definition was very different than say the Pope's.
Personally, I think the child-like vision of the Old Man on the Cloud is just that... childish. But I wouldn't go as far as you do, by dismissing the entire concept as Santa Claus mythology.
If by God, one is referring to a more Buddhist vision of God, the very energy that makes up the very elements of the universe, binding all things into one systemic force, then I'd be compelled to answer "Yes, I probably do believe in God". But that would just be symantics. Astro-physics/God as an all encompassing energy force.
Or maybe the question should be "Do you believe in a literal humanoid God? One who points his humanoid finger and creates planets and stars? Or do you believe God is just another word for the energy that lies within the space between?"
In the end, the only thing I can say in full confidence is... "I don't know. How could I?"

I most certainly believe in God. Take a look around you and see the beauty . To laugh at your 80 yr.old parents shows no respect for them . If indeed there 80 or any age as far as that goes.
Notice : 2 Corinthians chapter 5 v 7,We live by faith ,not by sight .

Well, good for you, you don't believe in Santa Claus. Well, too bad for you, you don't believe in God. You have a high opinion of yourself, don't ya? If I were your 80 yr old mom, I'd cut your little hide out of my will and give it the Church.

Anyone who would mock their 80 year old parents' faith is a pretty pathetic example of a child and human being. Ditto someone who has to brag about how much smarter he is than other people.
You're not even a decent representative of atheism. I respect many atheists on this forum because they can defend their beliefs with solid logical arguments. Your egotism and "nanny nanny boo boo" style of reasoning are an embarassment to your fellow atheists.

My personal opinion is that the human race has an inherent want to trust and to respond to questions. together human beings have used faith to as an answer to the "that technique of life" (beginning, death, even "what takes position once you die?") or maybe notwithstanding there are quite a few diverse religions and concept structures (athieism and technological understanding are concept structures too) all of them serve an identical objective. How do you answer massive life questions? With evidence. yet how do you outline evidence? Even technological understanding would not coach very a lot. in my opinion i trust in medical rationalization, yet I settle for that even medical checks and consider do not truly coach some thing. Eg for a lengthy time period, it replaced into frequently huge-spread that the Earth replaced into the centre of the picture voltaic device. using the equipment that they had decrease back then, this replaced into the most functional rationalization as to why the sky looked as if it would flow round. yet at the same time as they invented the telescope, it replaced into got here upon that really the sunlight replaced into the centre of the picture voltaic device. In 500 extra years at the same time as they advance extra technologies, a number of our cutting-edge beliefs will be acknowledged as absurd. genuinely what i'm saying is that there is not any real evidence of a few thing, and through that the beliefs human beings have are depending completely on inspite of "evidence" is suited to their understanding and theory of the global. for sure it really is not any longer possible to really answer this question because it really is in elementary words a count number of opinion.

Have you ever heard of the theory of evolution? Darwin never said anything about the survival of the smartest. Religious people follow leaders and watch parking meters, and they reproduce like bunny rabbits. Of course the world is full of religious people. I went to an atheist meeting once. It was a room full of men and one fat lady. No kids. Go to a church and the whole family showed up. I sure as hell didn't want to have coffee and cookies with the guys again. I never went back.

Never fear. Good news is on the horizon. The numbers of the religiously infected are dwindling. 20 years ago almost 86% of the people in this country were infected, now that number is down to around 77%. Education is the best defense against religious stupidity.

Most adults do believe in God, but it's okay either way. You, however, don't sound old enough to have 80-year-old parents.

Can you believe ONLY pseudo-intellectuals don't believe in a higher power?
Einstein wrote extensively about his beliefs in 'religiosity'. You, of course, are smarter than Einstein.
P.S. if you read some Quantum Physics (you can read, can't you?) you will find plenty of SCIENTIFIC support for intelligence preceding anything in 'physical reality'. Good luck!
